I installed these on all my 1st floor windows. Easy to install and work great they'll have to break the windows to get in (alarm system)!! Just be careful when drilling holes (they tell what size drill bit to use) that you drill far enough away from glass or You'll be the one breaking the pane! I sleep better knowing noise will be made if anyone tries to break-in. Two thumbs up

Had purchased this many years ago and was very happy with this security lock. One day my brother in law was forcing door open withPin intact, pin bent and did not work properly after that. Went back to Home Depot bought replacement pin again. Didn’t know pin was in different sizes, was as not good as before. Was researching different locks on Amazon and saw this. Repurchased pin in longer length, it is perfect. This device securely locks my sliding glass door. I am pleased. Would recommend this product.

Very simple and very effective. I have kids so anything a toddler can reach (and disengage) wouldn't work. This is cheap, simple, very effective, and way out of my toddler's reach. Great product! It took me about 15 minutes to install it with my drill.

These pins are inexpensive, easy to install and great for securing the door. I use it in combination with a Charlie bar (a policeman friend of mine said it helps detour would be criminals because they can see it.) The reason I did this was because my house had gotten broken into, and the way they got in was through the locked sliding door. They pulled on the door until the screws that hold the lock mechanism in the door pulled out. I bought two of these and the reason it did not get 5 stars, was because the pin tends to come undone from the chain, but after securely reattaching it, it has worked flawlessly. I did notice that some times you have to wiggle and twist the pin to get it in.

What I needed

I bought this to secure a sliding door. First of all it doesn’t even come with some basic instructions, like how it should be installed, what size drill bit for the pilot holes, nothing …I looked how other similar systems were installed and eventually drilled the hole for the pin and pilot holes for the screws. Every single screw provided in there, even with a pilot hole and very little torque, broke and was stuck in the pilot hole. Just useless garbage screws, felt like plastic. Ended up buying stainless steel screws to install this. Giving it 2 stars for the pin and usefulness but taking 3 stars for providing such cheap hardware with it.

Worked just as advertised with my aluminum framed slider. I did pre-drilled the screw holes as the included screws are self threading but not self drilling. When installed as intended the sliding door is very secure, zero side to side or up/down movement. Would buy again.

Bought four of these to replace similar items that we've used on our sliders for 22 years. These are easier to remove as the head it larger. We don't use the chains since the pin tends to swing back and forth and scratch our Frenchwood sliders, but we park them in the same place every time so everyone in the family can find them. An inexpensive item that our insurance agent suggested to prevent the sliding doors from being lifted out of the tracks. Much better than the broom in the door and almost unnoticable. Be sure to measure for the correct length.
