No, this hub is not powered other than the USB Bus power from being connected to a computer, meaning this hub will only be able to provide 500mA as is the USB 2.0 bus power standard. My 2.0 usb printer will not print from a 3.0 usb ms surface. the hp website suggests a 2.0 hub. should this solve my problem?

However, if you have multiple devices connected to this hub, that amount will drop as it can only draw a maximum of 500mA from the host USB port which will be shared across all 4 ports.
