So far, so good
Just got this two days ago, so not going to do cartwheels just yet. However, every crucial function is performing as expected so far (you know, like email, texting, phone calls, streaming data, wifi, camera). Also, Android Oreo 8.0 updated successfully without bricking the phone, so that's no small thing. Also, screen resolution is fantastic. I came from the MOTO G5 plus, and was very happy with that screen and skeptical that this one would be noticeably superior, but it is. Got this phone mostly because I wanted a larger screen and NFC, not because the G5 plus was not a really good phone. If I had had the MOTO X4 and not the G5, probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger on this because the x4 has NFC, which is the thing that bugs me most about lower and mid tier phones, most of them don't have or disable NFC, which is obviously more of a marketing ploy than a pure cost decision. The only potential "knock" I'll put on this so far is that this phone tends to get a little "warm", which I will be watching closely over the next few weeks. I had a LG G4 which eventually succumbed to the dreaded "bootloop", and that got not only warm but downright hot, and that was going on right from the start. I don't the same thing is going on here, but we'll see. Anyway, G6 is an impressive piece of work, remains to be seen if it's "reliable". 10/1 Quick update: The "heat dissipation" issue seems to have completely abated and for the time being is no longer a concern, phone is not hot or really even warm to the touch. Interestingly, I had read somewhere else that the phone takes a day or two to kind of "settle in" in terms of heat, which seemed kind of curious and unlikely to me but that seems to be exactly what happened with my phone. All things being equal, this is by far the best buy for a phone on Amazon or anywhere else for that matter. I mean, you can't touch a flagship level phone with this feature set for $379 bucks. 10/8 Update - Still working well, only real "niggle" would be with the battery. It's not awful, but it's far from great, not nearly as "robust" as the Moto G5 plus, which has a crazy awesome battery. I guess when you have a screen as large and demanding as this one, something has to give, and I suppose it's the overall battery life. 11/8 Update - Phone works well, does everything it was "advertised" to do. As somebody who had the LG G2, which was a phone that was pretty universally praised, I was hoping that this phone would come up to that standard, but unfortunately I don't quite think it does. I figured that since this phone was 4 years down the line from the G2, it's performance would be that much "crisper", but surprisingly enough it suffers from some annoying video "stutter" when loading and using some apps. Coming from a Moto G5 plus, I thought that the performance of this phone would be a notch higher, but to be honest the G5 plus "feels" like a faster phone, which to me is quite disappointing. And as I had mentioned in the body of the review, the battery on the G5 plus is far superior to the LG. If I could go back in time, I might have taken a shot with the MOTO Z3 play, there's just something about the G6 that I don't love. It's not "bad", and it is a great looking phone with a nice screen, but it's just not as "crisp" as I would expect a premium phone built in 2017 to be. Final notes: It's a good, not great phone. Bought it here when it was $379, since then it's gone down to $359. It's best feature is it's generously sized, bright and sharp 5.7" display, and has all the flagship level features (800 class Snapdragon, dual cameras, facial recognition, wireless charging, NFC.) that you would expect. However, there is just something about it that prevents me from "loving" this phone, and it's hard to pinpoint. Battery life is only "OK", not nearly as robust as the MOTO line, and the overall performance is not as "snappy" as one would expect a "flagship" level phone should be. My MOTO G5 plus can hang with this phone, and it only has a 625 chip. If I could do it all over, I would have just bought the MOTO X4, because my main gripe with the G5 was that it didn't have the NFC chip. So, my final verdict would be this. Unless you just have to have a 5.7 inch screen, I would go with the MOTO X4 on this site. It's only got a 5.2 inch screen, but that is more than adequate for just about anything, and it has NFC, dual cameras, a very solid Snapdragon 630 and it's $150 less. By far the best value out there right now. Feb 3, 2019 update: Stumbled across a quirk in how the battery reports a "full charge" when it actually it's not. Up until a few weeks ago, I used pull the charger out almost immediately after it reported "100% full". This usually resulted in anywhere from an estimated 27 to 29 hour charge according to the G6. Compared to my MOTO G5 plus which sometimes would start off with a 2 1/2 day charge, I thought that was a little chintzy. However, I experimented by leaving the charger in an extra few hours past the "100%" reporting, and have gotten up to 39 1/2 hours on the report. What that tells me is that the calibration for the reporting is way off, and also would contribute to the fact that many people report that their battery life is poor (It may be due to the fact that they think their battery is 100% charged when in fact it's only 75% or less.

Best phone I've ever had and will continue to buy
I've had this phone for a year now almost, and I've only recently started having issues (I'm here right now for a replacement since the warranty is a whole year). I was immediately impressed with the battery life, even when playing Pokemon Go, how well apps like Snapchat ran compared to other Android phones once I updated to 8.0.0, the camera quality (which is still impressing me a year later), and how smooth everything runs. Very rarely did I ever have heating issues (maybe once or twice, all I had to do was unplug it), my battery still is great a year later, and never EVER do my apps crash. Only problem really so far is that it keeps complaining about moisture in the USB port, which I've tried to fix by disabling moisture detection in the SVC menu but works only most of the time. Hence, I also have a wireless charger, just in case it acts up. I'm sending it in for a replacement because in the last few months, twice it has been turned on when I wake up in the morning, but absolutely bricked--the screen is black, there are no sounds, charging it does nothing, etc., but I'm sure I'm going to continue to get exclusively LG phones from now on, regardless. There is no better phone manufacturer for the price.

Very good phone
I purchased this device a month or two ago and have no serious complaints so far. A few points worth considering: Pros: 1) Sturdy build quality, I upgraded to this from a nexus 5x and the difference is noticeable. Not quite as good as an iphone or flagship samsung, but very close. 2) Easy to clear out the pre-installed amazon junk. Took me 5 minutes to hide or remove the stuff amazon preloads on this phone and haven't had it crop back up since. 3) Worked with my AT&T cell plan no problem. Like I said I previously was using a nexus 5x. When the G6 arrived I just swapped in the sim card from my old phone and it booted and connected straight away. No problems at all 4) Good battery life. I plug the phone in every night, but more often than not it's still got most of its battery left. On a few occasions I've gone two, even three days without charging and as long as I'm not using it heavily the phone keeps going no problem. Cons: 1) Screen is a little big for my hands. I can barely reach my thumb clear across if I'm trying to use it one handed. 2) Finger print scanner is also the wake/sleep button and it's fast enough that tapping it to check lock screen notifications usually unlocks the phone instead. LG worked around this by allowing you to double tap the screen to wake the phone up and double tap again to sleep it from the lock screen, so over all not a huge issue, but it does take some getting used to

Very Good - Could Have Been Great | LG G6 - The Working Mans Pixel 2 XL
Full Disclosure - I am coming from a Google Pixel XL, got this as a second phone, so it has a lot to live up too, also i got this for $450 which makes it a great deal at that price point, since LG built the Pixel 2 XL and was in part based on this phone and the v30... one can almost consider this the working mans Pixel 2 XL. I got the correct unlocked version of this phone, thank you very much.. The phone itself is very good, with the screen and overall modern 18:9 design and the wide angled lens being the stand outs... cons are the middling battery life and LG software (which is easily changed) The auto-brightness feature is well just terrible, forcing the screen from barely readable dim to super bright sometime with very little reason, under work florescent lights the situation is the worst and i just keep it at 50% non auto, when at home with softer lighting the brightness works much better and i keep it on auto... consider installing lux from the play store, which has far superior brightness management IMHO. The wide angled lens camera option is great in fact i wish in the future more smartphones would implement this to get much wider exceptional views and good closeup and mid range, a big plus... the standard camera lens is pretty good, not Pixel level good, but def above average. I didn't care for the native LG software and quickly replaced with nova launcher and the Pixel launcher with Google feed... and then replaced most of the default LG apps (calendar etc) with their much better Google counterparts... the phone is butter smooth with non of the Samsung "lag" and slowdown, LG really knows how to optimize in this area, kudos. Biggest let down is the middling battery life, you can optimize this phone, but it will just barely get you through the day with mixed use you'll get about 3.5 hours SOT before needing to hit the charger which itself is very quick USB-C 3.0 quick charge BTW... For a 2017 flagship this is just not that great with 5+ hours SOT being pretty standard these days as a reference point. For most people this will be just fine, phone tinkerers and power users will need to charge by evening. Overall this is a very good phone, the design is wonderful and modern... very premium yet light in hand, it is kept from greatness by the middling battery life and LG software... The camera is good but the 2nd wide angled lens is great.

LGG6 - great bargain for a great phone, with an activation story as well
I upgraded to the G6 from a G3 and after about 2 weeks, I am happy with this purchase. The phone is very fast, easy to manage in one hand and very good battery life. I'll check back with additional feedback in about an month or so. I have an activation story though. I visited 2 VZ stores in the Chicagoland area to activate and both stores told me the phone was not compatible with Verizon. The VZ store employees were convinced this was because unlocked phones seem to have a 14 digit IMEI instead of 15. So I had Amazon send me another LGG6 and it turned out to be the same as the first. I then called Verizon 800 and they confirmed that both phones were indeed compatible. I headed back to the first VZ store armed with this information. The employee again was not convinced until he installed an activated nano sim card taken from another phone in the store and it worked. Humbled, he apologized and activated a new nano sim and in approx 10 mins, I was using my new phone. I should note that the LGG3 uses a micro sim card while the new LGG6 uses a Nano Sim Card, so I was not able to simply move the sim card from my old to my new phone.

Buyer Beware
Okay so I got this phone back in 2017 and right away I had to keep sending it back cause they kept sending me the wrong ones. I wanted unlocked and they kept sending me t-mobile ones. This is not LG's fault this is a amazon problem I would think or the sell problem. When I finally got my unlocked one it was great at first. But after less then a year the battery started having weird problems luckily it was still under warranty so I sent it into LG to have it repaired. They replaced the battery apparently because it was faulty but the warranty wouldn't be extended or anything so if it happened again I would be screwed. Later on I started noticing the phone was like stuck on one day when I woke up which had drained the battery most of the night for some reason. I took screenshots and sent them to LG and explained what happened worried that the battery was messing up again. On top of that I didn't have time to charge it that day and had to go to work right away after noticing the battery was down to like 12% or something. I had to try and charge it a bit at work. After that it seemed okay and working normally but LG suggested sending it in. Well I wasn't gonna send it in right away because I had a trip coming up around the time and didn't want to be without a phone or with a different phone im not used to when im on my trip. So I could be able to take decent pictures with the camera, and use the apps im used to. Plus it wasn't covered under warranty anymore cause of the fact it's only warrantied for 1 year after purchase. So I went on my trip and right away the first day I am on my trip I try to swap out the SIM card with a pre-paid one and the SIM/Micro SD card holder (the plastic garbage they use) was broken in more then one spot. I was really upset as well as stranded because I couldn't use my phone to contact anyone or use mobile data only wifi. I made it to where I was staying and contacted LG on my broken phone all panicked but figuring they could help and would have a place nearby (since it was a HUGE city and area thats very popular). I was told the closest place was over a 1000 miles away and that I would have to send it there and wouldn't get it back for 2 weeks or something like that. Like wtf!? I am on my trip and need it now! So they suggested taking it to a local cell phone repair place and have them try and fix it. I ended up having to do that and had to wait a day for the replacement SIM/SD card slot then the repair guy noticed part of the card slot was stuck in the phone thus you wouldn't be able to fit the SIM into it. So he had to open up the phone to get that piece in order for the SIM to work. Unfortunately in the process he damaged the SD card reader but was able to get the card holder opened up so I could insert the new card holder into my phone and use the pre-paid SIM card I bought to use so I at least had mobile data but my SD card could not be used so that meant not taking as many pictures or videos during my trip and got charged $60 dollars for my trouble. After I got home from the trip I contacted LG about getting it sent in to be repaired cause I still liked the phone and was used to it. But it would be 2 weeks before I would get it back so I had to end up buying a temp. smart phone to replace it which took some time. Also every time they e-mailed me about the info I was sending them about needing it repaired none of the links on their e-mails worked right so I had to go to their site and constantly type in the reference code etc if I needed to add any info to the problems or anything. I finally got it sent in and got an e-mail today with it addressed to a different family member for some reason (idk how that happened) and they had claimed before because they are LG they would have the right parts and stuff so it would be better for them to repair it so I figured it shouldn't be to bad. The e-mail currently is showing that because it was a "tampered device" and because it was no longer under warranty that it was gonna cost me around $380 US dollars to be repaired. I paid $450 US dollars when I first got it new and that included a warranty. That really annoys me. I am still contemplating on if I want to fork over that much money for something that might not last long anyways. But I would need to look for a new smart phone if I want to buy something else instead. I am someone who takes really good care of his phones. I never let them go below 20% and usually only let them drain down to 40% and only try to charge them to 80% like what iv seen on so many sites talking about keeping your batteries working in great condition. I rarely if ever drop my phone and usually it's only a small distance from like a chair to the floor but I always have them in a protective case and house them in a holster when im not using them. I try to keep them cool and not use them to often etc. My phones should last me a long time but manufacturers tend to make crapy products these days that only last a year it seems like. If it didn't have these problems the phone would have been pretty good to me. The camera worked well and took decent pictures. It has nice features, it was user friendly. The only thing I didn't like recently was the fact that the location thing would keep coming up (I think that's maybe googles fault) which I had to go in and turn off over and over again in the settings. Which would broadcast to whatever app is asking your location even if you have it set to off it would turn on by itself at times which was annoying. As well as the battery seemingly getting pretty warm at times just from using it normally. Sorry for the long rant. And I see this phone isn't being sold anymore on amazon from the looks of it. Will need to start looking at what new unlocked phones cost and if I might want to go with one of those instead unfortunately.

Beware of non-existent updates
I've had this phone since late May 2018. Initially I thought that this was a really good value for a one year old phone. Unlike many of the reviewers, my camera didn't Crack, my sim tray still works, and I don't have the dreaded water in Port detection. The phone is pretty bomb proof. However, the last time Amazon has sent updates for this phone is well over a year ago. As of November 27, 2019 I am still on an update from October 2018. This is disappointing as LG is still releasing updates, but Amazon is not pushing them. It is upsetting to see such an amazing product get shelved by Amazon's lack of willingness to update it. It especially doesn't make business sense when they want to maximize the amount of ownership time to mine our data.

Updated 2019 - Verizon users read this!
Update October 2019. This phone has not received any security updates in over a year. LG says 'it's on the way' and can 't tell me when it'll get any updates. Others with G6 bought through carriers have received security updates. This makes me leary to buy another Amazon unlocked phone again. I see other posts on the web that Amazon phones don't get the Android security updates like carrier devices. In a world where malware and viruses and rootkits are prevelant, that is very concerning. ************************************************************ Needed a nano - sim. Went to Verizon, got one no problem. Went to activate device - couldn't do it in store as unlocked phones seem to have a 14 digit IMEI instead of 15. This caused confusion with the Verizon techs. Tech let me use his phone to call customer service - 5 minutes on the phone with a very professional lady and she had the SIM serial entered and the phone activated. No hassled whatsoever. 14 digit IMEI? - No problem she said. So just be aware that with Verizon you'll need to call customer service central command since they can't activate these in-store. Otherwise - Excellent phone: Unlike some others have listed - I find this phone to be just fine. I went to this from an LG G3 and I'm pleased with the performance of the G6. The camera is much improved and video quality is excellent. I find battery life to be good. I can listen to Google play all day at work and that battery still has 50% plus left in the evening. Volume buttons on the side take getting used to but the integrated fingerprint scanner is nice and makes for ease of use. It's nice to see the stock LG OS vs what Verizon or the other providers put on a device. If the built in apps don't meed your needs that's why there's a Google play store. I replace the stock voicemail, messaging, weather, email and launcher on almost every phone I have owned. Overall a good solid device. This one is $672 at Verizon - $419 today at Amazon for the unlocked non-Prime model. That's almost a $260 difference. No complaints from me.
