Shocks of a life time
They fit my van perfectly. The function exactly like they should. And the price wasn't to steep either. They don't make noise unless you hit a bump fairly hard. But they are easy to replace and help my car ride smoothly

Better than original
Good looking units, they seem to be well made. I installed them on my 2010 F150 6 months ago and they restored the ride and ride height to better than original. It’s a little bit of work to install them but that’s due to the design of the truck.

2004 Bonneville GXP - Great Buy - Ride lift / level answered
Another great buy from Detroit Axle. There products have always been spot on, and I've never had any issues with their customer service. After reading the reviews on these struts and other sellers struts, the main issue seems to be the ride height / raise of the front end after installation. I went ahead and ordered these with the expectation of a slight rise in height. Here is my review of the struts: Shipping: Took less than 2 days to receive, Came well packaged and no damage. Installation: installation was pretty straight forward and simple. Took me a couple hours, while taking my time. Ride: Great improvement with the ride and steering going down the road. No more clunking going over the slightest bumps in the road. Ride Height - As for the ride height question. Before the installation I measured the height of my front fender well. From the ground (center of tire) to the bottom of the fender well 28 3/4in. After the install it measured, 32 1/4. The ride height was increased about 2 1/2 inches. Appearance: The increase wasn't that noticeable and looked "OK". And most people wouldn't notice. Unless your a little OCD like me. Resolution: I took the struts back out of my car, went to Auto Zone and rented a strut spring compressor. I then swapped the springs from the OEM struts with the new struts. After reinstalling Into the car, the new ride height was 29 1/2. About 3/4 in higher than I started, and the car now sits perfectly level. The ride is actually a little softer ride with the OEM springs. (a little more to my liking). *Note the new strut springs were about 2.5 in taller than the OEM springs. The new springs had 5 coils in them and he OEMs had 4 coils. This is my 2cents, take it for what is worth. This is a great product, and I would defiantly buy them again. If you are at all worried about the appearance or the ride height, rent yourself a spring compressor and swap springs before you install them. I took measurements before and after installation

Not this time
I ordered Detroit Axle struts for a 2007 Dodge Caliber. I’ve used Detroit Axle parts often, from wheel bearings to shocks and they have always fit and lasted. I’ll continue to use their parts, but this time things did not work. The struts I purchased did not fit. There was two main issues. First, they were to long, if you measure from the top of the strut tower to the center of the top bolt they were 1 inch longer than their eventual replacements. This made the car sit way high in front. Like silly high. You might not think 1 inch would make a huge difference but it did. So there’s hope for all of us. Second, and the worst thing, the springs rubbed the inner fender, badly. Turns out the springs were considerably fatter than than the replacements so at every turn and bump they rubbed terribly. I couldn’t figure out what was making so much noise so a few searches and online forums later I ended up purchasing replacement Monroe struts locally. I actually brought the D. Axle strut into the store to compare and it looked to us like the spring was incorrectly installed upside down at the factory especially because the replacement Monroe springs were clearly marked “top”. So I bought the Monroe’s and switched them out. Car drives perfect now, no clangs and bangs and horrible rubbing sounds now. I had an alignment done and I have to say the car drives great now. With Monroe struts in the front and Detroit Axle shocks in back. I tried returning these, but I didn’t have the box, and I had installed and used them. Even still, Detroit Axle refunded me $10 of a $150 purchase. My wife and I had a good laugh, because it only cost us $140 to drive 2 miles on those struts. I’ll still use Detroit Axle, but I’ll be cautious to look over the specs before installing, and always keep the box.

restored the ride a leabre is supposed to have
Great product, great price, fast shipping. Installation was straight forward. This is typically not a job for just one person, you will need help getting the bolts and holes to line up on the steering knuckle, no big deal. No more rattles, rides great again, raised the ride height by about 1/2 an inch, which would be typical wear and tear on the old struts. I would recommend this product!

This product is made by Detroit Axle you can find cheaper but not better. I am a retired Automotive Tech and have trusted this brand to deliver quality parts at a reasonable price. This product is a complete assembly, still if you do not possess good functional tools have your Automotive Service center do the job. This is not a light item and as such comes properly packaged very descriptive as to its looks and function. Alignment after repairs or replacement should be part of this procedure. This company will stand behind its products and as stated earlier this is quality OEM standard at less than most manufacturers pricing. It is designed to fit first time with no weird modifications or add on spacers but remember it all begins with Year Make and Model. I am doing a front end upgrade and using not only Detroit Axle Strut assemblies but both Control Arms too all from Detroit Axle. They are due to go on within a couple weeks nephews garage is ready and Maritime weather is starting to turn for the better and fishing, spring clay shoots, plus other outdoor adventures await. Next year the back end with Detroit Axle leading the way. 5 stars plus.
