Very good quality

I found the hardware material quality and fastener engineering to be quite good. The rail comes in pieces, but once bolted to the wall it makes no difference in the sturdiness. Some people have commented that they had to hammer the rail pieces together, which is not at all necessary. Simply fit them together and install the hat-section grommet to hold them. I found it helpful to drill a hole in a scrap piece of lumber and use a tapered drift punch to round out the hole and draw the pieces together just a bit, before installing the grommet (see pictures). Use a soft-faced mallet to drive in the grommet, which will avoid marring the finish. The holes in the rail are 16” on center, but unless you build the wall with that in mind, the odds of them lining up with your studs are not good. The hardware, rail and doors are going to be heavy and in constant use, so I would not recommend using wall anchors of any kind. Use a cleat secured to the framing studs to keep it solid. You will need to space it away from the wall anyway, so that it can pivot without interference. You may need to cut away a portion of your baseboard, in any case. I made the door halves from 3/8” tongue and groove pine beadboard with a frame of 1x4 pine stiles & headers, and 1x6 footers on both sides. This makes the door 1-7/8 inches thick. You will want that extra thickness for drilling the 5/8” pivot pin hole in the bottom of the outside half. I glued all the door pieces during assembly, then used 1” drywall screws to draw it all together without having to clamp anything. Carefully measuring out for the screw spacing and marking them with pencil dots kept it symmetrical, but still gave it a rustic look. I laid out around $55 per door half for materials, which is way cheaper than the cheapest (junky) things you can find off-the-shelf. Yes, it took some time to lay it out, but it is not that technically difficult. Since I used this for a bathroom door in our master suite, I overlapped the door by 3 inches on each side for increased privacy. I also added a handle on the bathroom side to help pull it closed, but it easily tucks into the recess formed by the stiles when the door is fully open (folded). I put the outside knob on the pivot side so that it does not protrude into the doorway when it is open. It is as effective as a traditional sliding barn door, without taking up so much wall space. Not only is this very functional, it is way more aesthetically pleasing than a traditional bifold door. In my own humble opinion, it is a much better alternative to a pocket door as well, since it is completely accessible for maintenance. The composite rollers make the action very smooth and quiet. We are older, and staying asleep is sometimes a problem, so we appreciate that there is no clicking or thumping when the door is opened or closed during the night. Of course, your door construction will play a part in this, but the hardware itself is superior. I have received lots of compliments on this, and am planning to replace all of the in-frame bi-folds on our closets with them. I am very pleased with the quality, price and end result of this purchase.

Barn doors are incredibly stylish, and I've been itching to incorporate them everywhere! However, finding the right fit for closet doors proved tricky until I stumbled upon this one. It completed my barn door collection flawlessly, fitting snugly into my compact closet space. It's just the perfect size, making our house feel even more perfect with this stylish addition! Now, about the installation – it came with everything you need, except for the drill, drill bits, level, laser level, pencil, screwdriver, tape, paint matching your wall for touch-ups, ladder, and safety glasses. But, jokes aside, it does include the essentials and is surprisingly easy to install. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who shares my love for barn doors!
