Linocut and Reduction Printmaking: Design and Techniques

I originally found this book in the library. I find a lot of books in the library. In this work session, I was focused on tools needed to plan linocut projects for arts integrated learning experiences for elementary age students. I appreciated the examples given which helped me purchase materials and practice my skills prior to teaching students. I'm happy to have this book in my personal library.

This is the best how-to book on linocuts that I’ve come across, and it’s the only one I’ve seen that discusses how to transform an idea into a printable image. It’s probably best suited for beginner to intermediate linocut artists, but I think even experienced and accomplished artists could pick up a lot of useful tips and approaches. Boswell is a good teacher, and her YouTube videos are excellent as well. Highly recommended.

I finally got my hands on this book. It is wonderful. I am just starting with lino block printing and this book has answered so many of my questions. I spent many hours researching and trying to find answers and this book has compiled the information in one place. I highly recommend this book to every artist who enjoys linocut. Thank you Laura Boswell for such a great resource.

I believe that this is one of the best books available on Linocut printmaking. It covers everything from the basics, tools, paper, etc. and is a perfect primer of the beginner and a great resource for the more advanced artist doing Linocut printmaking. Highly recommended!

Very informative book, great reference book.

Loved all the details. Such a pleasure to flip through, ideal for dipping in to different sections or reading straight through.

When the book arrived I turned the sections about specific issues I am dealing with as a printmaker; I immediately found useful information. Then I browsed various topics as they caught my eye and was delighted by how clearly the material is presented, especially the section on designing for multi-layer reduction prints. I have just finished reading the book cover to cover. I am delighted with and grateful for this splendid resource and source of inspiration.

I was really disappointed with this book -- I loved the artist's book on Japanese Wood Cuts, and eagerly anticipated this book. However, the writing is uninspired, most of the book is very basic information available from much less expensive books, and the actual reduction linocut part is thin and lackluster. A sad disappointment from a wonderful artist.

This is packed full of interesting information that lots of the other books on lino cutting don’t have, plus the exercises and examples are actually interesting and different. I loved it so much as a Kindle book I also bought the physical copy.

Me encantó el libro. Está todo súper bien explicado y trae muchas imágenes que ejemplifican cada explicación. Lo recomiendo mucho si quieres mejorar tu técnica de grabado en linóleo.

Un livre magnifique et d'une richesse sur la linogravure. Une mine d'informations avec beaucoup d'explications et de photos pour une meilleure compréhension. Cet ouvrage répond exactement à ce que je cherchais afin de me perfectionner. Merci à Laura Boswell de nous offrir cette petite pépite.
