Great product

My Byrna experience is limited to practice shots on public ranges. I have not, nor will I do live testing of the Byrna Pepper Projectiles outside of legitimate self-defense, but on the shooting range I can easily hit a 4" target at 30 feet, well beyond the range of pepper sprays. When I cannot legally carry a gun, the Bryna gives me stand-off distance and repeat shots, helping me escape to a safer place. The capsules rupture readily even at 50 feet distance as long as the target backing is hard enough. While not a match for a real firearm in a stand-up gunfight, the Byrna does inflict minor trauma (getting hit with a paintball is not fun--the Byrna is basically an OC-filled paintball) and pepper gel inflicts a burning sensation on skin, a severe burning sensation when inhaled. OC is nasty stuff and when I carry pepper spray or my Bryna, I have a decontamination wipe in a pocket to counter the effects of the chemicals.

Quality projectiles for my launcher

If one of these explodes within even 20 feet of a person or animal that person or animal will be highly motivated to leave the area. If you hit a person or animal directly they will be somewhere between slightly disabled (bear) to completely incapacitated (most people). These are great for deterring bears and other critters from your garbage or other parts of your property that you don't want them around and will easily incapacitate a person. Just be warned that whoever or whatever you shoot with these directly will potentially be in some serious pain so do not do that thoughtlessly. Using these for instance to try and scare off geese or other lawfully protected animals or a neighborhood dog or cat would not only be cruel and unethical it would also likely be illegal. As would shooting somebody with these who did not present a clear and immediate threat to your safety. Just because they are non-lethal does not mean that you won't get fined or even go to jail if you misuse them so be judicious in how you use these. And be aware that the gas/powder from these easily spreads in the wind so don't shoot one of these upwind from your neighbors house or a public space.
