Tricky to set up but works well after that
I bought this “used- like new”. It came in the original box. The ink cartridges were already installed. We use it exclusively on WIFI direct. It took several tries to set that up. Note that the item number is Canadian, so you have to select “Canada” from the drop down list before you can find the right number. Now that I’ve set up both my iPhone and iPad to connect directly to the printer, the process runs smoothly each time. The printer quality is nice You do have a option to select “draft” if you want to use less ink.

Easy Peasy
Id like to address the previous 2 bad reviews, glad I didnt listen to them. First off, it WILL work right out of the box if directions were followed. Plug it in, ask your computer to add new device, then it will automaically ask you to download the printer driver, then update the driver. 2nd, the cartridges are SUPER EASY to put in if the directions were read. You have to press hard on the blue bar to make it move down, insert the cartridge, then flip the bar up. Its not rocket science. I had the thing setup and printing in under 10 minutes. I love that its the simple device I need for home use. Others may want one with more bells and whistles but this was perfect for those that want simplicity and cartridges are not pricey either!

This printer is a piece of junk
My journey with this printer is a few weeks old and I know more than enough to write a review. Here, in no particular order, is what is wrong with this printer. First, it is made and marketed for sale by Canon in Canada. Tech support at Canon US won't touch it. If you live in the US, the warranty is worthless. Enough there not to buy it: but there is more. It is very flimsy. The entire box shutters when it does anything. I was unaware that it was possible to build a printer with elements that thin. Next, I have no idea how to use the paper feed. It has worked properly only on 2 occasions. The rest of the time, it will not accept paper or it sends multiple sheets through at the same time or spaced either a half of a page or a third of a page apart. There is no way to know how or if it is going to feed. Right now I am getting an orange light that prevents the machine from working and I cannot tell what is wrong. And Canon US won't help. Seriously, if Amazon was giving these printers away, there is no reason to accept it. There is so much wrong with this machine that I cannot believe the positive reviews that I found on Amazon to be credible. I called Amazon with my thoughts on the machine and they did not want to address my concerns; but I persisted. I pointed out that a Canon Canada warranty being sold to US customers is defrauding the customer. Finally they agreed to accept and I am sending it back tomorrow. The bigger question is how does Canon agree to put its name on this piece of junk? My last Canon printer was a jewel and lasted over 10 years. Hope that this helps you decide.

Only took 1.5 hours to connect.
This is the third printer I have tried to connect to my system. It finally printed using a USB cable after 1.5 hours. Thank you Remarks person who said "go to bottom of model selection and change to Canada" - This is extremely IMPORTANT!!! Thank you so much. Also the printer spooler that will stop the downloading process is in the Windows Menu/ Tools/ Windows Print Spooler ON - select THAT one! Then you have to restart your computer. It said it was printing a test page, I never got that, but I had a word file to print (some return labels for Amazon) and they printed from the file like champs! YAY My previous old printer was a direct wire connection to my computer (which is too old to have Wi-Fi) The USB connector cable for this model works - several other brands with more bells and whistles did not work. So this doesn't have the fancy ink tubs, auto feed, send email to the mothership for more ink options. It prints nicely and maybe I can print some pix of my grandkids!! woo hoooo. I used to be a computer programmer so I know enough to be dangerous but not competent. The instructions are woefully inadequate. My internet wi-fi is also poor. I am very happy this works! This does not have auto-duplex (auto two sided printing) it will tell you to put the paper back in the paper feeder face and top down and hit print again to do the back side... I have decided I don't print enough two sided pages to justify sending this back. This is the third printer I have bought to replace the ink-sucking previous one - that hubby installed on his garage computer and we are using via sneaker net (put file to be printed on USB and carry it to the printer).

As advertised - EXCEPT
Everything was surprisingly as advertised. Easily installed. Easy operation. Ive had to use most of its options on the fly, without reading the manual and it was easy to figure out without wanting to throw it....come to find out the scanner doesn't work. From what I can tell the bulb is burned out. Never worked. Shipped to me broken. Gotta love it.

Won't connect to wifi
I paid more for a printer that connects to my wifi but this one, no matter what we did, simply would not. We had to manually connect it to my desktop via cable, which defeats the purpose of getting a wireless printer so everyone in the house can use it. The print quality is good, it's print speed is a little slow but not terrible, fine for a home office, and it's relatively easy to use once we got it installed and working.

Good product
This printer does the job. I prefer Cannon Products they work well and last. I've tried other printers and I always go back to Cannon!
