USB to TTL Serial 3.3V UART Converter Cable with FTDI Chip Terminated by 6 Way Header, Works with Galileo Gen2 Boards/BeagleBone Black/Minnowboard Max and More

These things are great! I use them all the time for my projects at home whenever I want any kind of a serial interface to it. Mostly I use them for menu driven applications where you basically just need a terminal on the laptop. But these things work really well and I've been pretty happy with them all along so I use the snot out of them!

Works great with a WAV Trigger. More convenient than a FTDI breakout board.

Some low-stars reviews may indicate the user doesn't understand what this device is supposed to do. It works just fine for me. Yes, it provides a 5 volt line, and yes, the serial signals are 3.3 volts. I gave it 4 stars in hopes that someone in doubt will read this.

It works but be aware that the six-pin connector that you plug into the Beagle Bone is rather tall and if you try to mount the Beagle Bone onto a target cape with this thing the six-pin connector will interfere. The only way around this is to bend the pins on the Beagle Bone and lay them over at 45 deg. Also, Windows 10 did not recognize it. Look in Device Manager and you'll find a device that needs a driver. You'll have to do a web search on "FT232R USB UART Driver" then download/unzip a driver to install. No big deal and works just fine.

I ordered this cable to accompany my Embedded Linux class, which uses the Beaglebone Black. I've used it a half dozen times so far in the semester (about 4 weeks at the writing of this review) and it works as expected every time.

Works fine, mine absolutely did not come with the gold plated terminals that were advertised.

The product does not supply advertised voltage, and I cannot program my embedded system via FTDI. I tested with other USB - TTL Serial FTDI cables and the system works fine, so it must be a faulty cable.

I bought this cable a while back to use on a project where I needed a USB to serial converter with a standard FTDI header. The cable seems to contain the right chip, but the pinout doesn't match the description. In fact, the colours of the individual wires don't match the colours in the description. Fortunately, it's straight forward to open the case and look at the PCB silkscreen to identify the pinout. The pins can then be re-arranged to match the desired pinout.

Works as intended but a bit expensive
