Nice scope
Suppose I received a good copy, everything is well made.6.5 lbs for an 82mm makes for a nice portable grab and go rig.Visual use is decent.Paired with the flattener/ reducer gives really nice edge to edge images. With a decent cam and filters many nebula images have been jaw dropping.Any concerns I could've sent this back, but am very happy with it, great value deal to be had

Good Scope for the price -- mine needed work to make it useful
First off for the discounted price it can be a good return on the investment for a experience user that is willing to over look the production issues - at least that mine had.Number one was that the 2" focusing ring was stuck and very hard to remove, required tools. Also the fine focus vernier knob was not connected - set screw needed to be tightened. Minor cosmetic issue, the white paint next to the focuser assembly was not without some chips.Overlooking this the Scope performs 'Optically' well if used with in reason . As related to the 2 Lens Objective design. I tested it without a field flattner - needs one for larger sensors. With a smaller 585MC chip it worked well without any correction. All in all other than the 'out of the box' issues , I am happy with it for the price paid. But maybe not the scope for someone looking for a perfect unit that needs no post manufacturing adjustments.

Evolux 82ED, poor build quality and poor CA control
I received the Evolux 82ED on Tueday and sent it back on Wednesday. It just feels cheap. My Svbony 102ED is better built as are my Williams Optics APO’s.Skywatcher Evolux was supposed to be a semi-premium scope. I read reviews that stated the Evolux was heavy duty build compared to the Skywatcher 80ed so I was expecting something of similar quality build as my WO’s.Anyhow I decided to take a look through it with my ES 68 20mm EP. The test was in daylight looking at my neighbor’s roof as I had done with an earlier EP test. In my other EP test I wanted to see how well the different EP’s handled CA when slightly out of focus with a premium doublet. My Svbony 102ED is sharp and I can only see the purple fringe when out of focus and pointed at bright object or bright/dark contrast point.Skywatcher must have used the "Incredible Hulk" glass with this because when “IN FOCUS” and pointed at my neighbors roof tiles I saw this fluorescent green tint at edge of tile. I have never seen anything like this. I scanned across the rook top and every single tile had same green along the top edge in mid afternoon. Very poor CA control.Other issues I found were:Stiff primary focus.Dual focus knob felt weird, kind of cheap. The focus is hex type and does not feel heavy dutyI think the dew shield may be carbon fiber or some type of plastic. Either way it felt cheap.I am not sure what else to say. I own several telescopes from different brands (budget to premium) and this one just looks and feels cheap.BTW, I ordered the Svbony 550 80MM triplet and let me tell you, compared to the Evolux 82ED, it is like night and day. My guess is Skywatcher is trying to clear these Evolux models out. Definitely not worth the sale price of $629.
