The most informative book of dogs!
I bought it for my husband, received it on Friday and he hasn't put it down. He has dementia and it is the first time I've found something to keep him interested. The pictures are high quality, the pages are thick, and the information is off the charts! If you are contemplating getting a new dog, but not sure what, get this book.

Great book, really helpful in finding the best dog for you. Needs more info, but for the basics it is helpful!

Fun Book
Fun book but the size chart is unreadable because of the light colors used. Otherwise has good info

Includes rare breeds!
Great book for dog enthusiasts, has many rare breeds, even some I haven't heard of before such as the Leonese Shepherd, Blue Lacy, Chongquing dog, Pungsan, Taigan, Caravan Hound, and Stabyhoun!

Finally a dog encyclopedia that makes sense!
It's the perfect size so that it's not huge, but the words aren't tiny either. It's very neat inside and clearly details everything. I got this because I'm a dog bather and would like to stop categorizing any dog that merely looks like a Labrador/Chihuahua/Maltese as that breed. I saw another review by a dog groomer confused on the classifications of the breeds and that the energy level/affection level are all random, but I researched and Bulldogs are in fact guard dogs and miniature poodles are descended from herding dogs. The ratings I only use as an average personality because every dog is different. I really enjoy the history tid bits in this book as well. Would totally recommend to someone as long as they know not to stereotype dog breeds into being all the same.

Very helpful as a research tool for dog adoption. It provides thorough details on size, weight, behaviour, trainability, health issues, and (important to me) shedding.

This book is very well written and informative. There is a double page spread for each breed of dog with clear photographs and excellent information. It rates the different breeds in categories such as good with children, good with other dogs, amount of exercise, ease of training, etc. My daughter absolutely loved this book and said it was the best present ever.

The "450 breeds" had me intrigued, as there are only 213 UK Kennel Club recognised breeds to date. I like to think I am a bit of an aficionado on dog breeds, having been raised by parents who had a big dog breeding/training/boarding/security business, but I was really surprised to find quite a number of dogs breeds I had never heard of. Each breed page shows a range of info about it as well as health and interesting history facts, which I will find it invaluable for my work of needle felting breeds of dog. You can see my work on FB, Instagram and .com as "ChicktinCreations." I can only think of one little negative and that is, although most of the breeds were shown standing and side-on, I wish all photos of the breeds were shown standing and side-on, so you could see their body shape much better for reference. Not easy to see the shape of a dog when sitting or laying down. That said, I am really pleased to have this lovely book in my reference section now and will be regularly used for my work and will be highly recommending it to others.
