First things first, about the title. It reads, “The Complete Scores” which can easily be misunderstood to mean their complete catalog. It’s not. This is 40 songs of which the publishers have produced complete scores. This isn’t a huge deal as just a minimum amount of reading or research will make this obvious before you purchase. With that out of the way, let’s talk about what you do get.The book is gorgeous. The slipcover, while unnecessary, is a nice touch. This is the first tablature book I’ve ever bought in hardcover. Feels nice. The book opens and lays nice and flat which is great for those actually using the scores to learn the songs. There are no articles, essays or writings of any kind. There is one picture in the front, but after that, you get exactly what you paid for, complete scores for 40 songs.I love how each song is laid out in score fashion. You can see exactly the notes Geddy chooses to play on the bass under the chords Alex is playing. Neil’s drums are right there too and you can see how the rhythm section locks together and diverges in time. Keys and vocals and any other instruments are also present (did you know “The Main Monkey Business” has overlaid mandolin, mandola, and bouzouki?)A lot of the songs have been published before, especially on guitar. For example, I think I have close to ten different published transcriptions of “The Spirit of Radio” and here it is again. The most recent published music was “The Spirit of Radio: Greatest hits from 1974-1987” and they published three separate books: one for guitar, one for bass and one for drums with all three books having the same song list. At about $20 a pop, if you wanted the entire band – that would cost you $60 (I’m good at math!) This book cost me less than that and has every song that is in the “Spirit of Radio” books plus some. This book has it all, each instrument on the same page in a single score. Plus it has all the instruments and sounds a guitar, bass or drum specific book doesn’t have.So yes, you may already have some of these transcriptions in various books such as the aforementioned Spirit of Radio, individual album books, Taking Center Stage, Drum Techniques of Rush, et al. Having them in this format in this wonderfully bound hardcover book is a must buy.No transcription is perfect plus as a musician you may choose to play something a different way or in a different position. That said, the quality of the transcriptions are very good. Not like the awful “Classic Moving Pictures” book published back in the day.I love to just put on the songs and “read along”. Watching the notes on the page as the music enters my head. You can enjoy this time and again, reading each instrument and how they interact to create the song.Note to the publishers. Please do this “complete score” format for every album, every song. My money is waiting.

I was really excited until I noticed some of the pages were out of order. I will be retuning the book.Update-Amazon replaced the book and the pages are in the proper order.

This is so cool! Every part to 40 Rush classic tunes. I havent reviewed every song yet, but so far it feels pretty accurate. Its my understanding that the band provided permission and approved the book (cant 100% verify that though). A really wonderful way to learn some awesome tunes and learn how intricate they really are!

Great for many reasons. But it is 40 songs, not their complete catalog, which is how title could be interpreted.
