Works just fine!
I own a near mint condition mid 80s Cadillac with a killer sound system, but only an AM/FM cassette player to play music. I have wanted to upgrade the sound system for a while, but didn't want to ruin the OE aspect of the car (original equipment) and reduce its value. I heard from a friend about these Cassette Adapters and started an exhaustive search through the consumer reviews here on Amazon. Like everybody else, I suppose, I started with the "1 star" reviews, and worked my way up. It seems the major complaint is the fact that the cassette players auto-reverse function chokes on the tapeless cassette and spits it out. My tape deck has an auto-reverse function, so this happened to me about 3 minutes after I first put the adapter in. It seems that the cassette player is designed to grab ahold of the cassette, pull it in, and use pressure on the tape inside the cassette to hold it in. There isn't any tape inside the cassette, so........ All I had to do is press the cassette firmly into the player so it seats completely, and....TaDa! no problems. Every time I put it in, I just give it a little extra push, and there is no problem. If I don't, it chokes on it and spits it out. The next major complaint was that the cassette made a lot of noise when it is in the player. Um.....Cassette players make a lot of noise, always have, always will. That is what the music is for. Unlike CDs, Cassettes have moving plastic parts rubbing against each other. If you do not believe me, put a blank cassette into your player and listen. Well then, Tron (you ask) why did you pick this one? When I got sick and tired of reading reviews, this was the one I ended up on. In my opinion, the are all decent products. They aren't complicated enough to be poorly made. Just a note: If you buy this one, put it into the player "label side" down. I don't know why, but it seats easier in the player for some reason. But it still works "label side" up.

Better than cheapers
I tried many cheaper cassette player branded and generic and doesnt work on my Toyota Rav4 2004. Others cassette adapters keep ejecting every 3 seconds. Something anoyng. But this Monster iCarPlay Cassette Adapter 800 works nice. The sound is pretty good, equal or almost cd quality. The radio hold it inside since first use. Not ejecting like others. No modification at all. Just remove from package and ready to play music. Its not perfect either because you can hear a short noise that comes from the inside of the casette. I think it could be the wheels of the casette. But for me is not an issue because the volume I use, hide that noise. The title says that is designed for iPod and iPhone but Im using it on a Samsung Galaxy S4 with no problem. I like to keep things as stock as posible on cars. I had the option to change the radio for other with Aux port but I like the original. If you think like me this is the cassette you need. I didn't tested the phillips but probably works too, but is more expensive.

PLEASE READ!
I am a regular amazon customer and I purchase from them often and I also tend to do product reviews for everything I buy, most good and some bad. So to start off, I must mention how strongly I feel about my opinion of this product. The product feature mentions three main points that I just can't help to find bs about: 1.) Improved cassette head mechanism for improved sound quality. False This does not produce any more clarity or quality of the sound at all. 2.)Spring-loaded cassette head maintains solid contact with your cassette tape player’s head for clear sound. Also false, as soon as I put it in, I noticed that the sound of it was a lot softer than should have been and was not balanced between my car speakers(more sound coming from the right side of my car than the left side). I then attempted to move the cassette adapter while it was fully engaged and then it completely changed the sound; got louder. Moved it again; got softer and more imbalanced. I also live in an area with bumpy roads and every time I hit one the cassette moves and the sound gets thrown off. 3.) Dual Balanced conductors delivers more natural audio. Again false, while also first using it, I noticed it produced a more harsh and definitely less natural sound as they claim. This was my second cassette adapter and the first one I bought was a cheaper Philips brand that they carry at Walmart. If you can find it there or on here for cheaper then buy it! It worked perfectly, I just happen to have a dog that chewed up the cable one day. So I figured I would spend a couple more bucks for this "NICE LOOKING ONE" instead. And it's just that, nice looking. No more, no less.

A Great Product for Older Car Stereos With No Aux
I've had this Cassette adapter for over a month and I use it to play music from my iPod in my 2002 Honda Accord. I didn't want to get a new radio JUST to have an aux port so i got this instead and it's been pretty good at what it does. I've always tried to avoid Monster branded items since they always feel overpriced but I had to make an exception for a cassette adapter since I wanted what I KNEW would be some decent quality. PROS: +Plays music really nicely +Authentic-sounding cassette whir while in the stereo +Cord is pretty long +I've kept it in my car for days in the heat (my car gets very hot if in direct sunlight for a few hours) and it still works +Cheap(ish) +You can configure the aux cable to come out of any side of the cassette player to accommodate for how the cassette goes into the player +I like the color scheme of the cassette CONS: -The Whir in the player as it plays is pretty loud. Turning off the stereo or even just ejecting the tape is enough for me to stop it -When moving the cable to come out of a different side, the latch that went over the cable wouldn't stay closed. A little tape held it closed. OTHER THOUGHTS: I don't think the gold-plating on the input would make a difference but I sounds nice either way. Make sure your device (tested on both Android and iDevices) is set to about 75% volume to avoid distortion of sound; then lower or raise volume by the stereo I wish I could control playback through the stereo but you have to use your device to pause, FF, Rewind, play etc. Not such a big deal but definitely risky when driving. Use a bluetooth remote or change the music at a stop light if it bothers so much. CONCLUSION: Overall, I'm happy with the product. It produces nice sound, hasn't faltered and is nice for older car stereos. I recommend this. EDIT 6/16/16: I've had this thing in my car everyday since I've bought it. Not only has it taken some light abuse (cable pulls, heat), it sounds exactly the same as when I first bought it. Quality hasn't faltered one bit. Though I hesitated paying so much for something so simple, I am glad I went with Monster for this converter.

Worth the money, honey
I had a Dynex cassette adapter before the Monster brand. It had awesome sound quality (despite the cheap price and low material quality), but it clicked and clacked something terrible. Then I broke the jack while listening to CCR when I was down on the corner. I had the EQ on my iPod set to Latin (as in Latin Latin, not Ricky Martin). Originally I found the sound quality on the Monster adapter to be quite terrible. HOWEVER, it would have gotten an immediate four stars from me for looking good, feeling like a quality unit, doing its job, and being completely silent in the cassette player. Then I thought to check the EQ to get rid of this hollow sound quality I had been putting up with. I put the EQ on Flat and BLAM-O! Fixed the problem immediately. This product gets five stars from me for looking good, having enough heft to make me feel it was worth the price, working silently, and letting me jam out to Creedence once more. -----UPDATE 3/26/15----- Still worth the money and looks great while delivering good sound quality.. HOWEVER, mine ceased to work and I'm not sure if it's because of the unit itself or my actual cassette unit. My car chooses to skip between side A, side B, and then tell me 'Tape Error'. I can hear the music coming through side A, too. I pored through the interwebs looking for a solution to this annoyance and tried removing parts and changing the side the wire exited and all that. Nothing. Anyway, it was delicious while it lasted, so it get's 3 stars from me. I'll modify that score if I find out my car is the true a-hole.

Works beautifully in my '98 BMW
If you're still an owner of a car with a tape deck without bluetooth, this is the easiest solution. For the better part of a decade I used one of the original Monster cassette adapters which worked beautifully. I found it much better than using one of the FM transmitters, which I've never been impressed with. After about 8.5 years of use, my original Monster Car Play adapter bit the dust -- but this was entirely from my abuse -- I wound up fraying the cord near the connector from putting undue strain on it accidentally. Anyways, enter the newer version. This one works identically to my old one, which in my given tape deck is extremely well. Coupled with my iPhone, Spotify Premium, and this tape adapter the old sound system in my late 90's BMW sounds very clear and crisp, without any unexpected amplification or attenuation of anywhere along the frequency spectrum. I've had previous tape deck adapters that somehow managed to erase all the bass, or the treble, or a combination of somewhere in between. A few improvement to this one vs. the old model: - The audio connector is reinforced and no longer at a right angle. I this this is a HUGE improvement, as the only thing on this that has the potential to break is the cord. Given that most of the cord strain occurs at the plug, I think this should go a long way to ameliorate these issues. - The "gears" on this one turn, and are quiet. My old one had gotten noisy. A few reviewers made comments that this thing made a lot of noise while it was turning inside the tape deck. Given that this is essentially just for show, you can crack open the plastic case and take out the little plastic gears -- the sound transfer apparatus has no moving parts and is therefore quiet. Cons: - None to speak of. A few other reviewers have noted problems with their unit. I would guess it is more just an incompatibility between this unit and their car tape decks. Highly recommended, especially for the price.

Only one issue
This adapter is quite good, when it is seated properly. My tape deck has the tendency to start playback by moving the cassette just enough to cause the heads to go out of alignment (almost every time I start the car). If I put my finger on the top edge of the adapter and pull towards me and to the left, it will usually fix the issue, sometimes I have to wiggle it more. Otherwise, it sounds like a bad tape at best, a bad speaker system at worst. When it is working properly though, it sounds almost as good as a CD, with more background noise. I have my Sansa Clip mp3 player set to about half volume and I can get pretty loud without too much noise. I have to adjust the bass to full and leave the treble at about half to fully enjoy the sound, but it works. I should point out that I had Dolby NR on at first (less noise but horrible quality) and turned it off with much better results. I don't know if this is more an issue with decks or with the iMonster adapter (likely the size of the sensor on the head), but once it is working, it is easily better than other adapters I have tried. Hopefully, my suggestion will work for most. I have to be careful when I stick my finger in not to get it caught, but it sounds better than what I WAS doing which was running my Sansa Clip through PC speakers on a 12v inverter (not nearly as loud and hard to keep the speakers from sliding around). My car requires removing half the dashboard just to replace the stereo, so this option is plenty good enough for me. The cord is pretty good size for an adapter compared with others, but not as thick as the typical cord you would buy to connect an mp3 player to an aux input. It is 3 feet long, which is good for putting the mp3 player on the passenger seat, not quite long enough for back-seaters. I did notice the clicky-clacky noise that others have mentioned, but can only hear it when parked and no music is playing. Unless you're listening to a lecture in a parked car, I'm sure it won't be noticeable, but if it is, just look at the customer pics that show how to remove the gears (you'll need a small phillips-head screwdriver).

Best sounding mp3 adapter I could find, but then it broke
I've literally tried dozens of different tape adapters for my mp3 player for using in my car. Almost every single one sounded awful, even after tweaking the EQ on my mp3 player (Sansa Fuze). I unfortunately don't have an auxillary jack in my car (2002 Nissan Maxima w/Bose), so I needed to find a solution. I despise everything about the Monster brand, but thought at least it might be decent quality. Low and behold, I was right. This is the highest quality, best sounding tape adapter for an mp3 player I can find. The sound quality is not the same as listening with an auxillary input, but it's good enough for what most people would need. There is no humming or low level buzz like a lot of other adapters. It's got the thickest cord of any I've tried and a very solid attachment to my mp3 player. Yes, you can get other tape player adapters for one dollar. And this is seventeen times the price. But quality wise, nothing beats this one. To me, that's worth the price. *ADDENDUM 8/15/11 The tape adapter now doesn't play sound consistently through my car speakers. Usually it plays through only one speaker, or through both but at 10% of the normal volume. I have been ejecting it and re-inserting which helps sometimes, but most of the time I'm just super frustrated. Now I have a barely functional tape adapter that lasted only one month. Unbelievable.

bon produit
