Needs a brake, needs to have a left/right handle, GREAT value for a great price . . .
Needs a brake for when you need to let go, it would be wonderful if they'd make the handle that could work for both sides, BUT for the price it's a GREAT solution . . .

Works great on our deercamp meat pole. Deer are easily hung up to skin and butcher.

Poor manufacture quality
All of the other one star complaints say that the pawl does not align with the crank gear, which allows the winch to freewheel when it should be locked. I received mine and this is exactly what I found as well. This would be a great little winch if they would put some time and effort into quality control. I don't know if I can find another small winch like this one. If not, I think I can improve on this one by inserting some shims behind the pawl to make it line up with the crank gear better. But I cannot recommend this to anyone in its current state of manufacture.

Seemed good.
Looked good for the price however it didn't work so well. It's kept outside and the cable rusted rather quickly and not the crank is hard to turn.
