Great deal for someone interested in learning to fly.

This is a very handy and helpful book that will do wonders for new students like myself. I am currently reading the beginning chapters and I can already see why my flight instructor recommended it to me. It has plenty of illustrations and is very thorough. A recommended buy for sure.

I have read several pilot instruction books, and although my favorite is "Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (PHAK):" (available free download many places - don't pay for it) this book has superior graphics to any other. The explanations are easy to understand, although some are not as detailed as I would prefer. Altogether, should you want an easy - to - follow book on piloting, this is excellent. I would recommend strongly that you supplement is with the Jeppesen "Maneuvers" booklet.

The book is already a couple of years old - but still up to date (aviation doesn't move the same fast as our digital world ;-) Passed the test - so it must work :-) It's a bargain compared to the "new" version (which has pretty much the same contains). Just on thing: It's a heavy book. If this is an issue for you then buy something which splits the topic over several books.

As a student pilot I have purchased three books to help me study for the private pilot certificate. I like this one best. The color pictures are a must for me. I purchased a used book, but you would never know it wasn't new. For the price you can't go wrong.
