It works really good for knives..
I mix this 160z FC solution to 36oz of distilled water for knife etching in a 1/2 gallon glass wide mouth mason jar with a plastic lid and it works good. To see the best results leave it in for about 10 minutes and then rinse and use a wet sponge to scrub the blade. This will reveal just how dark your blade is. If you want it darker put it back in and repeat. This process will dull your blade so be ready to sharping when done or coat that part with fingernail polish. The picture is of 2 knives, one etched and the other in original condition. The whole process took less than 30 minutes. I suggest you wear gloves and safety glasses just in case and store this stuff in a manner that will prevent the container from breaking and keep some baking soda on hand for any spills to neutralize the acid. Be very careful that your metal parts do not drop in the jar. This could shatter the jar and leave you with a serious mess to clean up. If you get it on your skin dont freak out, it will take it a few minutes to do anything and if you rinse your skin with water asap it will not burn you. Keep this stuff away from pets that might ingest it. If they get enough your pet will have to be put down because the acid will destroy their GI tract and it will be a very painful death otherwise. On that cheerful note good luck and happy etching. :)

Used for etching PCBs, did the job
I am making my own PCBs for some LED signal lights. I used the toner transfer method to apply a pattern onto copper plated FR4 pieces I also bought off of Amazon. I used this solution to etch the PCBs In order to etch them, I used the sponge method. I did not soak any of the PCBs, so I cannot comment on the soaking method or how long it takes. Instead I used a small 1"x1" section of a kitchen sponge and about a teaspoon of this solution. Thoroughly soak the sponge and gently rub it along the copper. I held the PCB in one hand, rubbed the sponge with the other and rocked it back and forth gently to make sure the entire surface always had solution on it. After a couple minutes it started to dissolve the copper. Around 5 minutes and I had a nice PCB I could solder LEDs to. I've since made about 6 of these little boards and have used various pattern methods (from sharpies to computer cut vinyl. I found the toner method works best but is the hardest to apply correctly. I pretty much only use vinyl patterns now and can get a PCB done in about 5 minutes using this solution.

It worked quick!
I wanted to give it a try and see if I could put a logo on a pan gift and was uneasy about the process to be able to do so and cleaning up any spills or anything like that, but any YouTube video you watch about it explains really well how you’re supposed to handle this product. Have baking soda readily available as you will need it.

🤷♂️
Doesn’t work for etching Damascus which is why I bought it, but perhaps it will work better for its intended purposes. 🤷♂️
