Question 1

Once installed, are the shelves easy to adjust?

To adjust shelves, you would just need to lift the shelve off the rubber stopper, move all to desired position then set the shelve back onto the rubber ring stopper. One note, the rubber stopper is a little bigger at one side so when you put the shelves on, they shouldn't move very easily on the pole when you try to force the shelve down, that way you know you have the stopper in the right direction. I (pre) figured out where I wanted the shelves dependent on what was going to be on each one. I think adjusting the shelves afterword's would be a pain! Also, put it together by laying it on the floor. You can easily adjust the height when you set it in place.

Question 2

Do the shelves stay in position when using pump bottles and/or when loaded with heavier items?

yes they do altho they can wiggle from left to right a bit.  one shelf has a hole in the bottom of it just big enough to turn a shampoo bottle upside down for super easy dispense.  i have very large shampoo and conditioner bottles that are pretty heavy and it has no problem holding them.  Mine do not have pumps though so it might depend on how much weight is behind each pump.  the shelves are secured with an acrylic liner that won't allow the shelves to move down, so this would probably work for you!  it's surprisingly sturdy!

How do the baskets attach to the pole? Will they slip if I use pump bottles?

Each baskets have a rubber wedges and keep them attach to the pole. They will not slip if use pump bottles. Thank you

Is there a spring inside the pole(s) or does the tension that holds the whole thing in place rely on the turn-knob?

As I remember, when I installed mine, the knob tightens the polls so they don't slip apart.  There is a spring, but it is only at the top section of the poll.  There is only a spring at the top and it has ;only enough give for a couple of inches.  So the poll has to be only slightly longer than the space where you are putting it. The you push on the poll just a little to get in place.  I installed it wrong the first time and it came tumbling down.  My space was from the shower seat to the ceiling, so I didn't use 2 of the poll sections.  I hope this help.  If you still have a problem, write again and I will try to clarify.
