Just what I was looking for! I started playing again after a long hiatus. This is been helpful in getting me back in the game.

Harvey S. Whistler’s books are amazing especially if you’re trying to learn on your own.

Very informitve good for intermediate to advanced levels.

Excellent study manual. This is definitely where you begin extensive work on double stops & chords. Exercises galore! Fingerings, bowing patterns,advice on how to play, etc. You are well drilled. At the end you are bound to be good. I just began, but looked through the entire book. Only one issue thus far they did not explain fingered octaves, (I had to look it up on the web), but that's minor. I highly recommend this book!

Great book with many necessary exercises. However, has a few printing errors on a few pages.

This is a great book to start learning double stops. It takes thru simpler excercies then gradually increases the difficulty. I did not have enough formal training in my youth and now find myself learning many things I missed. I highly recommend this book to any adults violinists wanting to increase and regain skills. For the younger students I would say this would be good for an intermediate student.

This book is excellent-and actually, I am quite charmed and encouraged by the date stamps in each page where a previous violinist has gone through before me-50 years earlier! I think it's cool. I will be keeping this book. It is really useful not just for improving doublestops, but to improve hand position. You can't make decent double stops with a sloppy hand position. As if that weren't enough, it's easy enough yet challenging enough to keep you interested and to gradually improve your sight reading. A triple deal. Thanks. Loooooove it. :) This is a GREAT book fellow violinists. Add this one to your collection.

This book is all you will ever need to learn double stops. They were hard hard hard! I purchased the book,worked hard, I'm getting it. It's an excellent book.Im an advanced beginner working as far as pg 15 of 75 pages.

Hey, I recently bought a copy of 'Developing Double Stops' only to find it was well above my level of playing or indeed my own needs as a fiddle player.. it's for serious violinists in reality. So I just gave it to a friend who's a classical violin student as a Christmas present and he was delighted. It seems like a classic book and I got it for a very good price here, fast delivery, so no complaints then! 5 Stars all round, Px :))

Good way to practice the bow

I bought the 3 Whistler books on the recommendation of my violin teacher. And they are all brilliant, and an enjoyable way of developing good technique! I'm already seeing the benefit of including these exercises as part of my daily practice.

Such fun! Makes double stops tuneful and interesting. The beginning is really quite easy then it gets as hard as you want. Contains nice pieces as well as exercises.
