Review: This is an excellent, affordable text prep book for anyone considering taking the ACE ... - Anyone who has ever worked out in a gym has probably encountered a personal trainer or utilized his or her services. Whether to work on boosting one’s fitness level or for rehab, we all know just how important it is to keep fit. For anyone who has considered a career as a certified personal trainer, they’ve probably wondered which path is best. Just what does it take to become a personal trainer and which certification is best? Obviously if you’re looking at this particular practice test guide, you’re interested in the American Council on Exercise (ACE) certification. In the front matter of this book several certifications are discussed, including the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certification, the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certification, the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) as well as the ACSM. The advantages and disadvantages are outlined for each one of them. For example, one of the advantages of taking the ACE is that the “certifications do not require a college-level degree to sit for the exam.” On the flip side the disadvantage is the fact that “the study materials and test can be expensive, totaling over $600 for the Personal Trainers Certification alone without specializations.” Most individuals, prior to purchasing test prep guides and tests have already researched requirements for certification. Details for the ACE are outlined in the front matter, including the four domain areas, the number of question, the percentage of questions, and the scoring. FYI, you’ll need a passing score of 500 or higher to pass. Checking out the ACE website would be a wise move even before purchase of any study / prep exams. There are three full practice tests in this book, each followed by a mirror image test with correct answers indicated. This is a short, but excellent practice test for anyone considering taking the ACE. As I’ve often maintained, it doesn’t hurt to take several different types of tests in order to prepare for the “real” exam, but this is one of the more affordable ones I’ve seen. Review: Test questions ??? - AnneMarie, is possibly right. I have been studying for the exam for some time and quite a few of these questions are obscure in comparison to the others that I have seen. I have not yet taken the exam, and if you read their bios, NEITHER HAVE THE AUTHORS.

Don't buy. It's not helpful for the ACE test.
Not helpful if you are taking the ACE test. There were questions in the test book that weren't addressed in the ACE manual. Really, if you take the ACE practice tests, you will have an accurate idea of what is on the test. Didn't even take the last test in this book because the info was so off.

Not recommended
I absolutely hate this book! There are so many questions that either weren't in my ACE study material at all or only were talked about in a sentence or 2. I'm taking my test soon and will see if I'm wrong to be saying this, but at this moment I don't think I am and felt so confident that I decided to leave this review before taking my test. While the whole idea/concept and way they did these practice tests are good, I just don't feel the information corresponds with my legit ACE study books. I guess I should have expected that w/the price when compared to other practice tests, but I figured it couldn't hurt. I would not recommend this book to anyone taking the ACE personal trainer exam. Whoever puts this book out should be ashamed that they are taking money from potential ACE CPT test takers.
