Ravenscroft Crystal Larchmont Decanter

This decanter is awesome. I looks great and when I have guests over, it is the centerpiece of my table. However, for the price, I thought it would have been a better product.A few things that aren't perfect:The top doesn't seat right. When you place it in, it wobbles, so you know there is not a good seal.There are air bubbles in the crystal.I ordered a second one because of the above mentioned defects. The second one I received was worse. It had more bubbles and in a more obvious place, and the top's fit was even worse. So I kept the first one and returned the second one. I figured they all must have defects and the hassle wasn't going to be worth trying to get a third.Still a great product, just wish that for $100+ that Ravenscroft would have a QA person inspecting these for air bubbles and other defects.

It's bigger than I thought, but I love it! Whoever wrote the review that said that a big dude was about the only person who could pour from this one-handed was right. I didn't believe it, but I think it will be true. I haven't had a chance to fill it and see how it pours but just getting it out of the packaging I could tell that it was on the borderline of what I could manage one-handed (and this with it being empty).I definitely feel confident that this will NOT knock over. It was also packaged extreamly carefully. So much so that it took me a while to get it out to check for breakage upon arrival. I noticed someone said the packaging ontheirs was poor so maybe that's been addressed now. I bought two - this one and another style and while this one had more padding etc., they both felt very securely shipped to me.I cannot wait to move so I can re-unpack these & fill them!

I wanted a special decanter for my Shabbat wine, and this thing is a real wowzer. It's quite small (only ten inches high) but it has the stout proportions of a much larger bottle. The glass at the mouth is 1/4 inch thick, and the stopper alone weighs 1.45 pounds. BTW: the stopper fits snugly inside the neck --- no wobbles. I can pour using one hand --- the protruding ring around the neck really helps --- but my GF cannot. My only criticism is that it dribbles a bit when pouring, especially when it's full. When it gets down to about half full, the dribbling stops. But I still give it five stars just because it's so darned handsome.

I purchased this decanter as a Father's Day gift for my husband. He hasn't seen it yet, but I have (though it has not been used yet). It was not cheap, but then again, at least it doesn't look or feel cheap. It is very heavy, seems well made, and looks exactly as it does in the picture. The top fits as securely as most decanters. We have several , and they are all somewhat loose fitting or "jiggly". I'm not at all sure why...maybe so the liquor can breath (or is that just wine?). You would think they could put a "rubber fitting" or sleeve over cork portion so they would fit securely, but I have never seen one that does. It did take a little longer to get here than most of my Amazon purchases (about a week), but it was worth the wait. :)

I ordered two decanters. I keep spirits in them 24/7 and didn't need the worry of ingesting any extra lead. I figure the amount of alcohol I drink is bad enough. They are heavy and attractive. The only reason for the three star rating is the pour, which is important. It drips and if full or near empty is hard to not make a bit of a mess. I have had these for months now and have learned to pour from them without too much mess. I have owned and still have as decoration expensive lead crystal decanters. While they pour with out a drop lost. I still use these instead. Full disclosure, I pour into shot glasses not tumblers.

This is a beautiful decanter and my father loved it as a Xmas present. But it is huge and very, very heavy (borderline clunky). Not everyone will like this and many people will find that they need to use both hands to pour because of the weight. The glass stopper is huge too.

I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase this for half price, since the box was damaged, and they didn't know if the product would be damaged too. Thank goodness for thick packaging, this little puppy arrived safe and sound. It was so amazing, that I wouldn't have minded paying full price for it either. Like many other reviews said, this thing is weighty. The heft of it feels absolutely fantastic and classy. It's gorgeous, and inspired me to build a bar out of reclaimed wood just to display it prominently. That's how fantastic this decanter is. I'll absolutely be purchasing all my whiskey accessories from Ravenscroft. I recently bought some glasses that have a matching bubble in the bottom to go with it, from the same company. Super fantastic. Worth every penny.

In person, this looks like somebody's [albeit very talented] kid made an arts and crafts project; the "kiddie" quality does not come across in the photos, it's hard to describe. Definitely sending back...
