F. Dick Red Spirit Tanto Blade Asian Inspired Kitchen Knife
J**D
strange knife
i bought it and used it in my butcher shop. it took a little getting used to, but was not bad. the blade was resharpened to my specifications and worked relatively well. it has a heft that was unexpected. the handle is not full tang and the end end cap is just a press on with glue inside. that said, the handle never came loose and remains affixed to the blade firmly. the blade has nearly no flex and works well for jobs that benefit from a rigid blade, like cutting oxtails. i put it through its paces and it does every thing it needs to. it's difficult to use at first if you've been using the same knives for years. the closest analogy i can think of is driving a different sized car and having to relearn where its boundaries are. bust it out on a slow day and get acquainted with it. if you don't have years of muscle memory, i suppose it would be as simple as cutting with any other knife.

Not very sharp, but sexy. Like Kelly Bundy.
I had high hopes for this thing. The tanto stule for a kitchen knife is what sold me after about a week of debating on a new kitchen knife. I knew it wouldn't be entirely practical, but I'm cool with that, I mean it's a pretty knife. I was expecting it to be sharp, though, considering the brand reputation. Wasn't very sharp at all, don't worry F. dick, I'll sharpen my own knife....
