CARMEL Chicken Flavor Soup Mix , 1 lb. Canisters (Pack of 4)

I've searched for years to find a stock/soup base that was vegetarian but still tasted like chicken soup. Well, this is it!! I purchased and made for seder, cooking with onions, carrots, celery, a leek and fresh dill, plus added black pepper and a little Vegetable Magic cajun seasoning (no, we don't like bland!) - and of course, kicked up matzo balls. In addition, since I'm the only one who doesn't eat meat, I served the others over cut-up chicken I'd made separately. My husband and guests pronounced it the best soup they'd ever had, with my chef husband, eating leftovers twice! I'm delighted to have purchased the additional cans, as we'll be using this year - round - for soup, as well as sauces and recipes calling for chicken stock. What a relief to no longer need to make two separate dishes or sacrifice taste!!

I found a recipe for chicken soup and asked my husband if he thought he might try it. He was a little wary, but said he would, because his mother makes the best chicken soup. I used the Kosher Carmel soup mix and he was so excited and surprised and told me this was better than his mother's. I won the battle!! I now make it at least once every other week. We live in Maine and BUUUUURRRRRRR it's cold outside. I also gave my girlfriend a container of it and she called me and told me "this stuff is great". She has always made alot of soups and is a very good cook. If you love chicken soup this is the product for you.....

The taste is OK if used as an addition for a more robust flavor. But, be aware, it is very salty unless well diluted. If you use the product do not add an salt.

I was glad to find this soup mix on Amazon. Since I moved, I was no longer able to buy it the grocery store.

I've been using this chicken base for years. In fact, I discovered it because when my grandma first started using it to make matzoh balls, my mom said to her that it tasted just like Bubbe's matzoh balls. (I never saw my grandmother look so proud! She could have lit up a city, she was glowing so hard: my great-grandmother's cooking was legendary.) I ran out and couldn't find it where I was living for years, and I'm SO GLAD to have a supply again!

If you want the secret behind your Bubbe's chicken soup this may be it. This makes food and soup so flavorful and rich. I cannot recommend this highly enough. For a few years it hasn't been made and I panicked. Am so happy to see it back on the market. I was running out of my stash.

I had a jar of this powdered soup mix. My vegetarian family loves it, and the flavor is definitely chicken stock tasting! So, when mine ran out I looked to replace it but it is not sold upstate in NY. The delivery was fast, and the flavor, though packaged differently, is still wonderful! You will love it in pea soup, lentil soup, any soup...and especially with matzoh balls!
