No More Untied Laces During Runs & MTB Rides
I purchased the LOCK LACES Reflective 2-Pack & swapped the laces on a pair of my running shoes. I decided to do this so I do not have to worry about the laces coming untied during my runs, especially during races. Adding more reflective material on my gear for running is always a plus as well. I have worn the shoes w/the Lock Laces now twice, for a 5 mile run & a 6 mile run. They performed great. I made sure my shoes & laces were adjusted comfortably & securely before the first run. During the run, my shoes never shifted nor slipped. The lock stayed true & the laces felt great. After the run, I just slipped off the shoes. Before my second run, I just slipped the shoes back on. Again, the shoes & laces were never an issue during the run. If you need to loosen the laces a bit while putting on or taking off, it’s very easy. All you need to do is squeeze the lock & slide it down the laces. Do the reverse to tighten. Simple simple. The installation was fairly easy. The holes were a bit tight, but the Lock Laces were able to squeeze through w/a little effort. Adjusting to fit was very easy. Once I had the shoes laced, I put them on & adjusted the laces until they felt comfortable. I then slid on the plastic lock, used a good pair of scissors to cut the laces about 2.5 inches (6cm) longer from the locks. I then used a lighter to burn the ends of the laces & squeezed on the plastic caps over them. I melted the ends so in the future when I replace these shoes, I’ll try to reuse the laces as long as they are still in good shape & still have elasticity to them. From what I’ve read, you can reopen the end caps by squeezing the sides together or just prying them apart w/a small flat tool of some sort.According to the description, the laces are made up of 7-strands & are 0.25 cm in diameter, 48 inches in length and can stretch up to 72 inches. These would not be long enough for boots. However, they make Lock Laces for boots that are 72 inches long & stretch up to more than 100 inches. So far, I’m more than happy w/the Lock Laces. I had tried another popular brand of “rubber band” type lace system w/less than comfortable results. The Lock Laces have an infinite adjustment capability, not just 3 (loose, medium & tight) like the other.UPDATE 06-16-30I’ve been riding my MTB for a month now w/the Lock Laces in my Five Ten’s. They’ve been awesome. Nice snug, secure fit & no loose laces to worry about. If anything changes w/my experience w/the Lock Laces, I’ll update this review.Thank you for taking the time to read this review. I hope you found it helpful.

Best elastic shoelaces, but don't expect them to perform like regular shoelaces
I tried the two most popular and best regarded elastic shoelaces, Lock Laces and Xpand No Tie Shoelace System, and here's what I found.Lock Laces are the best. They are easy to put in the shoe, easy to adjust (this is a big deal) and look good.Elastic laces work great in that they let you instantly take shoes on and off. That the laces are stretchy creates a problem. If your laces are adjusted tight enough that they keep your shoe really secure when you lift your foot then they are too tight when the foot is resting. And if they are comfortable when resting, your shoe will be a bit loose as you step. I think this is why shoe makers don't put them on new shoes despite the added convenience. The good news is that the tendency of the laces to be too loose or too tight is only really an issue if you both have your shoes on your foot long periods of stationary time and do a fair amount of walking or running. If you mostly wear the shoes around home or office that they are a bit loose, it won't matter. And if you are an athlete who wants to throw them on and run flat out for a few hours, that they are too tight may not matter much either. But if you want to wear these laces for a few hours in the office, say, where you don't move much, and then need to walk a few hours in them you probably won't be happy.Tip: To get the best of our them you need to adjust the tension just right. This is pure trial and error. The laces ship really long and you cut off the excess. For your first day or two, leave way, way more excess then you think you need. You may be surprised how much you adjust them and you'll be grateful for the extra lace. Besides, you can cut it off later.

Lock Laces Reflective No Tie Shoelaces
We really love this product, but it doesn't quite fit the need of what we wanted it for. I wanted to use them for my 7 year old's sneakers - she can tie her shoes but she's not very good at it yet, so when she ties them they are often very loose and her foot will slip out of her shoe. I was hoping this would be a good solution for her to keep her sneakers snug on her feet, but allow her to get them on and off easily. The toggle button where you push down so you can loosen the laces is very hard to push down - too hard for her small fingers to do and it's even a little tricky for my adult fingers, you really do need to use a lot of pressure. I can understand why this is designed this way - to keep the laces from sliding through when you don't want them to.Aside from this small issue we really like the laces- they look great, were easy to lace through the sneaker, cut to the correct length, slide through the toggle button and place the clip over the end. I was very impressed that even before I had received the laces the manufacturer sent me an email with links to instructional videos showing how to use the laces. They were very affordable and love the variety of colors that we could choose from, just wish the toggle button wasn't quite so hard to open.*****Edited 10/10/15 and bumped from 4 stars to 5: Stellar customer service from Lock Laces - they sent a follow-up email to my order politely asking for feedback on their product. I gave them an honest response and relayed that we were struggling with the small toggle button that the laces fit through. They immediately (no questions asked) sent a replacement pair of laces at no charge and expressed their desire that they wanted me to be 100% happy with their product. The toggle button that came with the new laces was indeed a little bit easier to push and use, so it seems that it was just a fluke that the first pair was more difficult. Very happy with these laces and also with their customer service.
