Decent hot beverage substitute.
At some point I decided that I was drinking a little too much coffee (about 2-3 pots a day) and decided to find an alternative for the afternoons. So I decided to try some of these coffee alternatives. I have tied several and found Cafix, Pero, and Roma) to be decent substitutes. Overall, it reminds me a bit of the flavor of instant coffee, but I actually think it is a little better if you mix it a tad more concentrated then they say. Basically, I use 3 generous teaspoons in my travel mug. That amounts to about 1.5 teaspoons per coffee cup.So in case this helps others decide on a beverage to choose, here is a breakdown of one's I've tried:-Cafix - decent substitute. Overall, it reminds me a bit of the flavor of instant coffee. I like mixing it a little stronger than recommended.-Pero - pretty well known and taste was very similar to this Cafix. Honestly I can't really tell the difference.-Roma - again pretty well known and taste was very similar to this Cafix. Honestly I can't really tell the difference.-Barlee - This was similar to the above, but definitely had a bit of a tanginess to it. almost reminiscent of instant iced tea.-Teeccino (variety pack) - this looked the most like coffee. It also tasted a lot like cardboard to me. The flavored ones were just flavored cardboard. Really not a good substitute, in my opinion.I hope this helps some other folks decide on a substitute as well.

Good hearty coffee substitute
I've tried 3 coffee substitutes on Amazon: Cafix, Pero and Roma, and I like them all. Pero is less expensive, which makes it a great buy. The only difference: Pero is in powder form; Cafix & Roma are crystals. Cafix has a mild 'sweetish' flavor from added sugar beet (sweetener). Roma is good, hearty basic ingredients: roasted barley, rye & chicory. I don't use sugar or milk & drink mine plain, sometimes with a little cinnamon and a pinch of Himalayan salt. Enjoy.

Dandy Blend won, Roma not too bad!
I drank coffee for YEARS until I had stomach issues related to the caffeine and tannins...can't do wine either so my life was feeling like a bummer. I decided to try out some 'coffee alternatives' to see if I could find a suitable alternative that I could make my new morning habit.More than anything I missed a hot mug on a cold morning with a bitter coffee taste to start the day, I've long since cared about the caffeine. I decided to try head to head Dandy Blend and Kaffree Roma which are both an 'instant' coffee substitute.Upon opening each here is what I found:Smell: Both had a very mild 'coffee' smell, but Dandy Blend was stronger than Roma. Roma had more of a light nutty smell, Dandy Blend was more bitter coffee/espresso smelling.Taste: I followed the directions for both as to have an equal judgement. They both dissolved nicely and were dark brown like a French toast coffee would be. I tasted Dandy Blend first (honestly thought it may lose) and was SHOCKED how much it tasted like coffee! It had the slightly bitter after taste and everything that I missed so much! I then cleansed my palette with a piece of fruit and some water and tried the Roma, it was nutty and not horrible, but it just did not have that 'coffee' bite. I kept going back to the Dandy Blend and had made my mind up at that point that it was the CLEAR coffee taste winner.Roma was good as a different kind of hot drink...but if you are trying to replace coffee with something that actually tastes like coffee, Dandy Blend is where it's at!

Nice but there is a label error!
The ingredients list published by the vendor was incomplete and this could be dangerous for some consumers. The final ingredient is missing from the Amazon listing. It should include Roasted Rye but this was not mentioned. Please see the attached image.

Breaking News - Coffee Snob Has a Change of Heart
Ok, so first off, I must say that I'm a total coffee snob. Yes, I'm one of those types... the Seattlite with the vast array of coffee choices. Lattes created by award winning establishments. You get the picture. Anyways, recently I found out the acid in my beloved coffee (as well as the caffeine), has caused me stomach and intestinal inflammation. To say I am devastated is an understatement. What I'll I do without my coffee? My morning pick me up? I literally cried when I found out I had to give up coffee. Fast forward to last week when I became desperate. I needed a latte, bad. I wanted the rich flavor, but didn't want to deal with angry guts. I decided to do research on coffee alternatives and came upon Kaffree Roma. I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try. Ladies and gentlemen, this product is amazing! The taste is very similar to coffee, although yes it is different obviously. The flavor is quite nice, and is a perfect substitute for coffee! I'm very glad I found this because it had really helped me let go of coffee. Give it a try!!!
