Thetford 42137 Aqua Magic II Base-White

This is the exact replacement for my Thetford RV toilet base. It is fairly easily installed, although the instructions are sort of cryptic - they are trying to do too much on a small document. I had to remove and replace mine a 2nd time because I installed a gasket upside down! The quality of the hardware included was good, again identical to the original.

I simply can't comprehend how a defect like this couldn't have been caught at quality inspection! It is so obvious and has wasted my time and effort. Thetford ... not a good effort on their part. Ok returned this one and ordered another ... the new one was packaged well and did not show any damage. Installation however, was another issue. For some reason the place where the top seal is placed in the old base was formed into the plastic of the base. The new version has a small circular piece that gets inserted into the throat of the base ... but it will not stay put ... keeps creeping out making it impossible to attach the bowl to the base because one cannot compress the bowl onto the base with enough force to both seat the insert and twist the bowl into the 4 little "fingers?" that hold the bowl to the base. Two little screws were need to hold the piece into the base so it would stay put. Next issue is the little fingers that hold the bowl to the base. These did not stand high enough to allow them to slide properly to connect to the bowl to the base when attempting to twist onto the base. A pair of channel locks were used to bend the little fingers upward so that eventually they would clear the bottom of the bowl allowing the twisting of the two pieces together to actually happen. So a 30 minute job turned into a couple of hours and wasted colorful language phrases that could have been put to better use.

Yeah! This is the best way to fix the RV toilet. No small parts to piece together in gross areas, just buy this brand new unit and put the bowl on. Make sure to re -tighten the mounting bolts at the floor after sitting on it.

This is the second Thetford 2 base I’ve bought. The first went in without issue. After I stall, the second water valve would not shut off. Had full flow. Had to pull the flush handle off to find the fix. Found the water valve seat and spring laying sideways in the cavity. Reinstalled and all was fixed, added about 1/2 hour to the job and a lot of unnecessary hassle.

It fit my Thetford crown just fine. It was a little hard to seat the seal.. when you turned the crown to lock it on to the base, it looked like the seal was off a bit, but it wasn’t. The screw holes lined up, the constant kick on of the water pump from the leak is gone, and that’s a win. Don’t forget the lube for the tabs and seals! 2 person job done in an hour or so. The instructions are pretty much garbage but it’s pretty basic even without them. If you have a little general fix it skill, you can do this.

Excellent solution for fixing an old toilet the parts purchased seperately would cost way more. Easy to install and works great, highly recommended.

Had to replace the pedal on my Tethford RV Residential style toilet. It kept falling off after 3 to 4 flushes. Could not reattach pedal properly without removing the base and laying it down. Decided it was easier and cheaper in the long run to purchase a new base. Installation was relatively easy, Did have a slight difficulty turning the base onto the porcelain bowl. Used a pair of pliers to slightly spread the tabs and eventually everything worked out great. Happy I went this root, the water valve might have gone next. The RV has been well used for more than 5 years.

I have never had an negative comment to make with my amazon purchases, but this was next to impossible to install. The plastice pieces on the top of the toilet base were not the proper size, the pieces were not even cut properly and had jagged corners and were to thick to twist the toilet bowl onto the base. After 2 hrs of tryng to fight with it we managed to bend tbe plastic just enough to twist it but hurt our hands badly in the process while trying not to break it as we had to use such force, never have we ever had an issue installing anything like this toilet base. This base should not have passed any safety checks nor should it have left the factory it was made in, Total disappointed on the quality, and surprised you would put such a mess out for sale. Had to give 1 star to be able to post my review, this product dosn't deserve even 1 star.

Fit our porcelain top rv toilet, super easy to change. Our pedal broke on our old toilet. This took us 30 min to change
