Always on the hunt for engaging books for my kids, this series is well written, well edited, and a joy to read.The cliffhanger at the end only makes the main character more likeable, and makes the wait for book 3 fun, trying to guess what it means for the Hudson family!

We purchased this after getting hooked on the first book. Excellent story, very well written. We used as a read-aloud for my 9 & 11 year olds and all of us enjoyed it.

We loved the first book for its relatable main character and imaginative worlds. So I'm very glad to say that this books delivers just as much as the first book. We are anxiously awaiting the next entry!

This book was such fun to read. It does touch upon some heavier topics as well, but it is done well, in relatable way, connecting you more to the characters and their journey. It was amazing read and I highly recommed it.Can't wait for the next book in a series.

I will start by saying that I absolutely loved the first book in this series. It was magical and fun throughout. This is why I am so disappointed by the direction the author chose to take with this second book. By the end, it is clear that the "diversity" shown in this series is nothing more than the author's choice to try to normalize alternate lifestyles. As a conservative follower of Christ, I do not want the world's views to be pushed on my children, and I felt compelled to write this review because no other reviewers have mentioned this. I wish that this book had steered clear of relationships altogether and continued the magic and fun of the first book without pushing an agenda.

An amazingly written book with lots of emotions along the way. Great adventure and anticipation. I was holding my breath at parts. Lots of diversity also. Between Flick, Johnathan and Avery there’s someone everyone can relate to.• ◡ •

A truly wonderful second instalment in this three-book series. Wholly inclusive story and characters, this adventure had me in tears as it neared the conclusion. Lovely worldbuilding, from an author who will, I am sure, go far in whatever genre they choose. I'm not even going to attempt to describe the plot, only to say there are some wonderful pirates – both goodies and baddies – some touching well dealt with family matters, and more suitcase's worth of adventure than you can shake a stick of Blackpool pink rock at!

Fantastic update and addition to the first story. Both myself and my 11 year old read daughter read this and loved it. Great story for the modern age.Really easy reading and full of adventure, humour and themes to generate discussion. Looking forward to seeing and reading the third installment. Well done LP.

We are a small family & read this 2nd book together. LD Lapinski is a fabulous storyteller & captured our imaginations once again! We recommend LD’s books to absolutely everyone! We had lots to talk about after each chapter. We are looking forward to the magical 3rd book in 2022
