This is a great, easy to use carpet cleaner for getting rid of small areas of dirty carpet without dragging out the big carpet cleaning machine. It is my go to for cleaning up after kitty hairball gifts, friends stop by with their kids and spill messy snacks, or when even I spill something messy from my plate. Yep. Even me.It's a little something to have on hand. Think of it as First Aid for rugs and carpets.

The Boater's EDGE Carpet Clean - Marine Grade Spot & Area Rug Cleaner 22 oz. Spray works very well cleaning the areas we have in our motor home that are covered with a tough, indoor/outdoor carpet. The carpet has a sturdy shag type weave that is good for the baseboard trim in the cabin and the side walls of the entryway steps. Walking in the cabin and up the steps leads to shoe scuffs and environmental stains. We know from experience with other RVs that leaving these rugs uncleaned can lead to permanent stains and mildew.Since the rug cover is relatively small (most of the floors are tile) I used the Boaters Edge Carpet Clean on all of the rug surfaces. Used as directed, I sprayed the product on the surfaces, let it work its way into the rug nap in a foaming action, then used a wet rag to loosen dirt and stains. Then I wiped the rug surface with a clean dry rag. The brown/tan rugs cleaned up nicely, without major fumes from the Boater’s Edge. The rugs in our motor home serve a purpose, and they are not a big cosmetic problem. But, it does make the carpet colors shine. I just have confidence in the product and know that the rugs are clean, dry, and will not mildew.Going in, out, and around the motor home we track a lot of traces of South Carolina Low Country into the RV. The Boater’s edge takes care of oily stains, grease, and beach salty sand. This is an excellent carpet cleaning product. It even works well on an outdoor carpet mat we have at the entryway to the RV where we wipe our feet after work in the yard or come in from a walk on the beach.

And no cloying, asthma-inducing fragrance!I've tried them all, and our carpet stains laugh at them.But this stuff from Boater's Edge makes stains tremble -- and disappear.For example, a friend spilled a cup of coffee on car passenger seat carpet. At least a decade ago! None of the standard carpet cleaners (e.g. Resolve, Folex, tc.) made a dent. Plus I had to content with the synthetic fragrance, in a closed car. Ugh. I took out the mats and soaked them in a bathtub of hot water and Oxi-Clean, and they came out great. But I could hardly use that method on the carpeting itself.Not expecting much, I sprayed this Edge product, brushed it around a bit, and blotted with an old cloth, which got very dirty quickly. Then I let it dry for a day or two and vacuumed. I can't say it's as stain-free as Oxi-clean in the bathtub got the mats, but it's a darn sight better. A repeat attempt will probably remove the last of it.In a bedroom, an antique-brass bed's wheels had left a rust stain on the Berber carpet. Nothing made a dent. But this product literally made it disappear.The one issue I have...where is the ingredient listing? Is this stuff extremely toxic? I couldn't find it on this product page or at the company's website.As a result, I have handled this gingerly, with gloves. And I would not use this on a carpet where small pets or children could come in contact with any residue. Just to be on the safe side.

To be clear, this product is intended for use on the all-weather carpeting commonly found on boats. It also works pretty well on the base layer in automobiles. I'm not a big fan of the scent, but it is clinical and dissipates quickly in well-ventilated areas. It does clean like nobodies business, helping get stains out with the first application. I don't recommend this for use in the home, but I suppose it could be. If you have tough fabric that requires clean-up in your boat or vehicle, then this is a great solution.~ Kort

I have become a big fan of Boater's Edge cleaning equipment for boats, and this product isn't an exception!The carpet cleaner does a great job of cleaning our boat's carpet.When applied as directed, this product works just as advertised. I'm really happy with the results it leaves us with. I've been a customer since last year and I will continue to be a customer for years to come. I am happy they continue to release new products.

It literally stinks like sweaty gym socks that were left in a zipped up duffle bag in the trunk of a car during the warmest and must humid months of summer.My area rug had a mishap with avocado. I washed it twice and the stains remained. In have before and after photos of two section of the rug. I treated it three times with the Edge cleaner. The smell was too much and I gave up. It looks like it impacted the color of the rug...which started out oatmeal and black.There is some improvement on the stains but the surrounding area was impacted. This is not worth the mess and hassle. The trigger on this bottle leaks making nasty job even more disgusting.I would use this on boats only and keep all expectations low.

Works well enough on a variety of stains, but the packaging was flimsy and spray trigger leaked and leaked and finally cracked after less than a weak. It did manage to remove some stubborn make up stains from a carpet, but it wasn't worth the hassle of the cheap packaging.
