Mag Lite replacement
Perfect fit and brighter than expected

Great so far!
Easy to install, replacement for an old incandescent bulb in a 4 D cell maglite. The results were dramatic. Much brighter and on par with a lot of modern led flashlights. Ordered the the other prominent brand and tried in a 3 D cell results were not quite as good. I believe LuduPam is the better LED for ten bucks it’s hard to beat. I can’t speak to longevity yet but I will update this review if I have any issues.

Good bulb replacement for small Maglite
This bulb fit right in my old Maglite flashlight. This LED is far better than the original bulb and much brighter. You must consider that with only 2 batteries, this restricts the bulb to 3 volts. The result is more light and whiter light, but no where near the output of the more powerful flashlights with 3 batteries and 4.5 volts to drive the bigger LED bulb. This is the reason why you see the different bulbs advertised with the cell numbers highlighted and why people complain about expecting brighter light output. This bulb is still so much better than the original, it is worth every penny to upgrade.

WORKS!
No, this isn't as bright as some of the "tactual" LED flashlights that are sold, but it has resurrected my favorite old Maglight. Some have complained about the "halo" or doughnut effect of the light and when I try to spread the light that does happen... so I just don't try to go wide beam. I can't speak to longevity or energy consumption as I have only used the bulb for a couple of days, but as for the light it puts out, it is a great improvement. The standard bulb sends out a pale yellow light that could reach a large tree about 60' behind our house, but you couldn't make out much detail. The "LudoPam High Power LED Upgrade Bulb 3W DC 4-12V" in my 3 cell Maglight sends out a white light that not only shows the tree in great detail, but also can illuminate the little meadow and even reach the top of the 100' tall tree. This helps me see if there are any predators around before I turn my Chihuahua loose to do her business.

Upgraded my old Maglite!
This is a great upgrade! I have an old (from the early 90's I think) Maglite that takes D Cell batteries. It has been a workhorse and did the job. However, some newer LED flashights were making this thing look like a dinosaur. It did not put out as much light and used more battery power. The LED bulb makes this a lot brighter. Plus, it uses less power which means the batteries will last longer. This extends the useful life of my Maglite a lot - glad to keep it on hand! Just wish it were rechargeable.

Great Upgrade to an Old Mag Light
I was getting tired of the dull yellow light that my Maglite was producing. It looked like my batteries were dying but it was just the bulb. I considered other higher lumen options but the price was pretty high and some options required modifications to the existing light. So I opted for this modest upgrade. Really easy to install and the improvement was impressive. For the money, I'm very satisfied to have not only extended the useful life of an old flashlight but to have significantly upgraded its performance and battery life.

There may be a quality control issue with polarity.
Ordered 2. Beautifully made. Neither one worked in either of two flashlights. I could not believe it and tried to modify contacts so there was no question about the bulb fit. Because they did not work still, I wondered if there was a polarity problem (diodes, by design, let current flow in only one direction). I finally connected them to wires connected to the battery pack and checked current in both directions. I cannot explain what happened, but they both worked with reversed polarity. One flashlight permitted reversing the batteries with good contacts, and the other only questionable contacts. The one with reversed batteries (putting the + at the - end where marked in the flashlight), works great now. It is a great bulb with intense light output. The other one, with questionable contacts, did not work, even when I tried to stuff a wire between the contact and the battery pole. I then reversed the batteries back to the way they were intended to be placed, and the light bulb worked perfectly. It produces great light that is well focused. I cannot explain this phenomenon. Clearly diodes, unlike filament lights, are very polarity-dependent, but this outcome suggests that there may be some breakdown in the farication or testing process (quality control) allowing them to leave the plant in this condition. If they work great right out of the box they should be 5 stars. If you have to do as I did and possibly not have the same happy ending, they may be worth 1 star. It is unfortunately a toss-up at this point.

Very bright
I installed it into a 6 volt flashlight because the incandescent bulbs did not last long with the 6 volt lead-acid battery I was using in it. If I turned the flashlight on immediately after taking if off the charger, the incandescent bulb would burn out. This bulb does not burn out and puts out a lot of light. Note that since the flashlight was not designed for this type of bulb, there is a dark spot in the center of the beam.

buen reemplazo para el foco de la lámpara, pero sería mejor que su luz fuera más blanca

As described, this fits into the standard Maglite filament bulb holder and has noticeably brighter / whiter output.

This works really well. I’ve owned a 3 battery D cell Mag Light for about 10 years. I don’t use it that much anymore as I’ve transitioned to smaller rechargeable flashlights the past few years. I was aware of these LED bulb replacements for a while and I decided to replace the original bulb in my Mag Light. I’m very happy with the results, the light is much stronger and I can tell right away that the LED draws much less power extending the life of my batteries. The Mag Light will never be my first choice anymore when I’m out in the field but I’m happy to say that it will get many more decades of service living in my toolbox in the garage.

I've had a 3-C cell Maglite for 23 years. One of the first things I bought back in 1998-ish for my car. Over the years, I've been easily able to find the normal bulb replacements but as time marched on, they were harder to find. LED tech has surpassed the old bulbs by leaps and bounds! I didn't want to replace my well loved all aluminum Maglite which has traveled with me for most of my adult life. After exhaustive searching and cross-referencing and reading a few Amazon'ers buying this particular bulb--I decided to try it. Replacing the Xenon original bulb in the flashlight was about 2min (mostly from turning and turning and turning the housing to remove the front of the flashlight). I was a bit nervous at first--you never know if it was the right size or would even last. Put in the LED and tested it on. It's 2-3x brighter than the original bulb and it didn't die. Put on the front part of the flashlight and tested again. wow..it's definitely brighter than the original bulb! Into the trees and such-- must better and more white than a yellow colour! In short - bulb works great as a Maglite bulb replacement, it's 2-3x brighter and no issues! would buy and recommend for those with older Maglite flashlights!
