AC WORKS Shore Power Adapters

This little adapter is just what I was looking for. I had a situation where I needed to connect an Uninterruptible Power Supply With the L5-30 30 amp plug to an L5-20 20 amp receptacle on a generator. The UPS had less than 10A load on it so I felt comfortable doing this for emergency backup use when the utility drops. It's well built molded plastic which I liked. I could have purchased a foot of wire, a plug, and a receptacle, but it would have cost at least this much (if not more) and not been as easy and sturdy as this adapter.

This is very handy for a UPS with a 30R plug. You have to be careful to not overly draw on the circuit. Ideally you'd just trip the breaker, rather than starting a fire. The plug will bend in the socket if you don't have it supported.

This does what I expected it to. On my dock there are GFI and ECLI breakers so I was not worried about having a GFI in the adapter. This is the only reason I am giving this 4 stars rather than 5. In general getting an adapter with built-in GFI may be a better option.

Great adapter, and one of the cheapest I’ve seen. Just remember, this only adapts the plug to the socket, not the current to your breaker. Chances are, if your equipment has an L5-30P plug, you most likely need a 30A circuit to run it. I’d only recommend using this as a temporary solution until you can get a dedicated 30A circuit wired by a licensed electrician.

I needed one of these to convert from an AOC UPS locking output to a rack mounted power distribution unit. It works great, isn't overly long and appears to lock in nicely. I will definitely consider using this brand in the future.

Simple design that just works. Nothing extra because all it does is change a 20a twist lock to a 30a twist lock. Works perfectly.
