Encounters

I am totally comforted by what Rabbi Kaplan has taught me in this book of ENCOUNTERS. He explains things so clearly that my being here on this earth is at peace knowing that my soul, the real me, will live on. I have always found that the word "spirit" and "soul" would seem to get mixed together in the shuffle of correct usage in terms of describing ourselves as spiritual beings. There are people who even say when you die, your soul dies and it's your spirit that lives on because you are spirit. Look no further, as you will encounter true wisdom so well explained; that you will know in your heart that Rabbi Kaplan was sent by God to teach those who continue to search for the truth. I came from Jewish ancestry, but lost my identity and was not raised Jewish in this lifetime. But, I am making the most of my retirement age in studying everything I can. Even if my brain can't retain it all, I know my soul is delighted! I want to give my soul every opportunity to correct and connect. Rabbi Kaplan continues to teach us through his wonderful books. It has been through his writings and translations into English that I have the desire to learn all I can so as to grow spiritually within the wisdom of kabbalah and prayer.If he were alive today, I would be sitting at the gate waiting to hear him teach as I consider him my rabbi. A special thank you to the Kaplan and Rosenfeld families. I am sure they sacrificed much while he was in the service of writing and translating the many beautiful spiritual teachings that God wanted and inspired him to do.

I am a gentile who finds great comfort in the works of Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan. His vision of G-d is awe inspiring and, at the same time, reassuring. My soul rests calm in the acceptance of the loving G-d that Rabbi Kaplan writes about in all of his works. I do not yet own all of his writings, as yet, only three of his books, but I hope to purchase and read them all. Each one of his books that I have read has lead me to respect the Torah and Judaism more.

I read this to learn about Jewish religion. The book is easy to read and understand. Very personal. Written with love. Will be good for younger readers. I feel like I want to read another book from this author.
