Unfu*k Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life (Unfu*k Yourself series, 1) Review: The Title should not deter you, the book is profound, not profane! - Outstanding book. Straight forward, concise and quick to read. I have read it four times and listened to it on Audio twice. Audio version is read by the author, his Scottish accent elevates the experience to a new level. The title might make you think Bishop is an outlandish, loudmouth, but this is not the case. Positive thinking and meditation are all well and good, but until you take action nothing happens. Review: Great book - Great book

Best, most helpful book I have read in a LONG time!
I don't usually write reviews. I have been having some issues I have been trying to work through lately and knew I needed to "get out of my head." There are a lot of books out there when you Google "books" "get out of my head". I started another one until this one arrived. The author is very straightforward, down to earth, and helpful. I really felt like he truly wants to help the masses with what he knows. He does use some profanities, so if you are sensitive to them, it may not be for you. He uses them for emphasis, which I appreciate. He provides real, practical tools to help you navigate through life and make the most of it. AWESOME and easy read.

Another "common sense" dose of reality
Coming out of the gate, the author describes this book as "a conversational slap from the universe to wake you up..." The good news and bad news all rolled into one is that this is another common sense book, meaning that you instinctively know everything between its covers...it's all a matter of how much of a "conversational slap" you need at this point in your life, and if you're willing to accept it...then DO something about it. It's not one of those "guerilla" books that requires you to sign up for Navy S,E,A.L. training the second you put it down. It's also not a book that sets out to hug your inner child and tells you that you're great just the way you are. Of course, if you're happy and have done the things you've wanted to do in life, you don't need the book anyway. But if you've settled for the life you have, rather than the one you've wanted your whole life, this book lays out how you got there and what you can do about it. You can't erase years / decades of sabotaging "self talk" in a day. And to its credit, the book doesn't suggest that you can. Step by step, you can unravel the beliefs and actions that do not support what you want out of life. Then, it's up to you to decide if you want the things you tell yourself you want bad enough to do something about it, or if you're still willing to settle. Only you know that, and this book isn't going to answer that question for you. It's a worthy read, if you're restless or bored or disappointed and that nagging voice in the back of your head keeps telling you the same "woulda, coulda, shoulda" stories. The dreams you had as a kid may need to be re-shaped if you're now an adult, but age doesn't mean that you have to give up dreams. Henry David Thoreau said it best: "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them." If that's what you're looking for, this book will support your getting there. If not, you'll read the book, filter its logic in a way that supports continued inaction, and you won't be any further down the road than you were when you started on page one. It's all common sense, it's things you already know, and the author keeps his promise of delivering a "conversational slap" to wake you up...if you're ready and open to it.

Concise, Powerful, Real Talk From A Guy Who Knows!!!!
I met Gary back in September of 2012 when he led a seminar I was at. He is an incredible human being with a heart for people, and is willing to say whatever needs to be said so that people own there power and take on life. This book is direct, insightful, and cuts to the main issues that all people face when they are stopped in life. More importantly, it gives actionable steps to address and breakthrough to the new life you always wanted. The book covers nine chapters with tools to reshape your view of yourself and the world, and inspire you to take action. One of my favorite chapters, Chapter 6, "I am not my thoughts, I am what I do" points to the truth of the matter that actions are what make any real difference. And taking new action is actually the way to create new thought patterns, not the other way around. Although some of what he writes may be confronting, it will definitely get you thinking in a new way and have you up off your butt and going for what you want. It was definitely a wake up call for me! All in all, a great book that is a quick, powerful read. And can be referred to over and over again if need be for a refreshing pick me up. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will refer back to it often as I apply, and take action to create the life I want for myself. Thanks Gary!

Yelled At, Mildly Motivated, Still Human
This book is like being yelled at by a very confident friend who just discovered motivational posters and swears they’ve cracked the code to life. It’s blunt, energetic, and occasionally kicks you into gear, especially if you respond well to tough love delivered with a megaphone. The problem is that a lot of the advice drifts into prosperity-gospel territory: think positive thoughts, say the magic words, and the universe will Venmo you happiness. Real-world complications—like trauma, money, or the fact that life is sometimes a dumpster fire regardless of mindset—are brushed aside in favor of “just decide to be better.” It’s a quick, entertaining read and might give you a temporary motivational boost, but after a while the repetition feels less like wisdom and more like a hype speech that forgot to bring actual instructions. Worth three stars: amusing, occasionally useful, and best consumed in small doses—preferably without taking it as a complete life philosophy.

Yes! Get this you won’t regret it.
Love this book. I love how the writer tells you how it is instead of sugar coating so your snowflake feeling don’t get hurt. I bought the rest of his books and can’t wait to dig in. If you are not a snow flake and can take criticism this is your book. It really helped me see some of my flaws. Best self help book.
