Great Little Adapter, Huge Sound Difference
I picked this up to improve the audio quality from my PC to my Samsung HW-S50B soundbar. Bluetooth just wasn’t cutting it, the sound was hollow, lacked bass, and didn't use the center speaker at all. This inexpensive adapter completely changed that. It was plug-and-play on Windows, I just had to switch my sound output from Bluetooth to SPDIF and I was good to go. Now I get clean, full sound with strong bass and much better center channel clarity. Movies and music actually sound how they should. Build quality feels solid too, no signal dropouts, and the optical connector fits snugly into my soundbar. The price is excellent for what it delivers, especially compared to some of the overpriced alternatives out there. If you're looking to squeeze better sound out of a setup that supports optical input, this adapter is a no-brainer over Bluetooth.

Perfect digital quality, no audible latency, works for years
We have a bunch of these and used them for years and they're flawless and reliable. One we use to connect a PC to a TV, one to connect a PC to a speaker system. The third one I used (along with the Hifime UR23 SPDIF Optical to USB Converter) to construct a USB-to-TOSLINK-to-USB cable to connect my two Windows 11 laptops, then enabled "Listen to this device" on the Hifime on the receiving device. This let me listen to a perfect digital mix of both devices at the same time. It works great out of the box, no settings changes needed, no software or special drivers needed, no noise or hiss or ground loop, no audible latency, no volume reduction. It's perfect.

Funky clock? (With Cambridge CXA81 Integrated Amplifier)
The clock rate seems to be "a little off" - or something to that effect; on two different host devices running two different operating systems (Windows 10 & Linux/Volumio), the device can't maintain stable playback on my Cambridge Audio CXA81, unfortunately.

Awesome quick fix! USB to optical audio in a snap!
I broke the SPDIF out on my brand new 600 dollar motherboard. 600 bucks for a motherboard is absurd, so is the crap quality of the SPDIF port that crumbled when inserting an optical cable for the 1st time! Rather than try to fight it out with the manufacturer (MSI) and rebuild my whole computer around a new board, I found this USB to Optical dongle. No drivers, plug and play. Optical out in a snap. I'm using the optical out from my computer's usb to my AV receiver (DENON 2700) and it works great with full volume control on my computer and volume control on the receiver. For 20 bucks, this beats an expensive headphone or audio DAC in a heartbeat. The optical end is beefy and not fragile at all. I have see some complaints about this and it seems pretty robust to me...at least the one I got. I suppose if you want to hang an engine block with it, it will probably fail. IDK, it works great and I'd buy another one if the same scenario for me presents itself.

I'm using this to get digital audio out of a Raspberry Pi and into an SMSL SU-1 dac, and for that purpose it's exactly what I needed. I love how simple it is. I do think it's a tad expensive though, it's about the same price as an HDMI audio extractor which could do the same thing but this is a simpler device.. but whatever it works great. Side note: I've seen some reviews mentioning it doesn't work with Dolby or DTS. Although I haven't tried that, from what I know about optical audio there's really no reason it shouldn't work. It will not transcode your audio into Dolby or DTS though, as in it wont just output all audio that way. The software you're using must support sending those formats over optical audio (such as Kodi), and the file you're attempting to play must contain one of those audio formats. Once the software is configured to pass the audio through optical it should work.

Funciona perfectamente. Una mejora considerable reproduciendo música de spotify desde el ordenador al sistema de audio comparado con bluetooth. De este modo se usa el DAC del sistema de audio, que en mi caso, es mucho mejor que el DAC del ordenador
