Always one of the best—even more so with the newest generation.
O'Douds pretty much created this type of pomade. Prior, you had water based that were more gelatin-like texture (i.e. Lay-rite, Suavecito) and oil/wax-based that were really hard to wash out, but held well (i.e. Goon Grease.) O'Douds created, a now popular style, of a water-based that acts like an oil based in texture and hold, while remaining like a water-based—as in, it's still easy to wash out. I was so excited to try the new formulation out, and was not disappointed. It's super easy to spread now. It still has that icing type consistency, but spreads easily and goes through your hair no problem. It's not a super-hold, this is still not a true oil or wax (hence the name leaning it towards water-based still) but I feel it holds very well, while still allowing your hair to move and look natural. I don't go for the stiff pomp look, and if that's what your hair style is this probably is not the pomade for you. But, if you like to style your hair with hold that can easily be restyled and moved when wanted, this is the stuff. The only downside to the original O'Douds Water Based was how hard it was to spread in your hands. (If you had the original formula you know what I'm talking about.) Basically, after scooping a little into your palms, you would rub your hands together and the water would separate from the other ingredients. This didn't make it impossible to use but you really had to focus on getting it re-mixed and spread in your hands after separation, which was time consuming and annoying—BUT THAT HAS BEEN FIXED! I lean more towards oil-based now, as I like the hold and look, but I HATE HATE HATE (yes, that much hate) how hard oil/wax based pomades are to wash from your hands after application. No one ever talks about this. They always talk about how hard/easy pomades are to wash out of your hair, but I could care less because I like a two or three days of build-up before washing and starting again. But washing your hands needs to be done after every application and oil/wax based literally take so much soap and gunk up hand towels easily. If you have this concern too, you can rejoice. This O'Douds Water Based washes away from your hands easily with a little soap and water. Smells great, holds well, easily to apply, easy to wash hands after. A+ O'Douds.

Fantastic pomade.
Fantastic pomade. I went from using suavecito daily (YUCK) to using a premium, well-made product in O'Douds. Honestly the two don't even compare. If you are still using suavecito or layrite or any other gel pomade (some are good most are bad) you owe yourself a try of this pomade. It lasts all day, is restylable with or without water and a comb. The best part about it is that it doesn't get hard, EVER. With any gel pomade you get a nice hard helmet of hair on your head, and with one stray hair or small gust of wind the whole style is ruined, and you can never get it back completely because wet-combing will remove a lot of the hold. Because this stays dry it allows you to fix any isues that may arise. Not only does it stay maleable, it also conditions your hair. Highly highly recommend this product, the only thing I've found to be better is Shear Revival Crystal Lake's newest formula.

Best product for slicked back or combover, stays malleable, low sheen
As a recovering “high end hair products” user with a very sensitive scalp and persnickety styling preferences, I do believe I’ve found my new favorite. I used shu uemura products until they discontinued not one, but both of the products I liked. One of them was replaced with a solid product, but it is still very expensive and doesn’t quite do exactly what I would like. I have medium length super straight hair with a ton of volume. I wear the slicked back / classic combover type style. It’s been challenging to find something that weighs my hair down without looking like I haven’t showered in days, remains malleable throughout the day, and gives a bit of shine. O’Douds, upon first use, is perfect for me, aside from the scent. I don’t love the scent. I actually bought two different “natural” or plant based products to use and compare after extensive research on reviews and ingredients. The “other” product smells amazing but is going straight in the trash after first use due to the fact it leaves my hair dry and fuzzy (odd for a pomade I must say). So back to the scent, it’s very “lemony” which is why I don’t use American crew fiber. It is very similar in that aspect (also American crew products make my head itchy). That is where the similarities end. O’Douds is superior to many other products I have used and midrange on the price so I’ll be sticking with this for now. The scent does dissipate quickly once applied and styled. I wish I could take the caramel musk scent from the other product and apply it to the superior ingredients and functionality of the O’Douds. But due to the fact that it dissipates quickly and I don’t walk around smelling like mosquito repellent, I can live with it. Solid product for half the price of my previous product. I’m happy with the results. It is a little tougher to wash out, but that doesn’t bother me. It is also water RESISTANT so hopefully I don’t look like a homeless person the moment I walk out in the rain like other products. It is a little tougher to work into my thick assed hair as well but I expected that from a product that can hold it all in place as I would prefer without drying out or flaking or losing all composure at the first hint of any precipitation. I also play music and perform under hot lights and have yet to find a product that remains malleable for a restyle after leaving the stage. I think this is really going to cut it for that issue as well. Will add a picture when I’m freshly styled. Right now I look like Harry from Harry and the Henderson’s after sleeping with the other product in my hair. EDIT - added photos. Photo on the left is actually the next morning. Ran my fingers through and restyled after coffee and it pops right back into place. Photo on the right is later in the day, after chores and wearing a beanie all day. This stuff is the real deal, for this kind of style anyway. At the moment I’m at two full days and head still not itchy. Amazing.

Amazing NATURAL pomade! Finally!
I absolutely LOVE this product. I have always been a pomade user and favored Layrite but I wanted something more natural without all of the harmful chemicals found in Layrite. I did some research and decided to order this. I will buy it again and again and again. Not only is it homemade, in an impressive (old school) jar, and it smells great (manly herb smell with a hint of eucalyptus)....but this stuff works! It is a bit difficult to spread in your palms at first but after trial and error a few times, you'll get the hang of it (usually works best for me when slowly applying pressure in between the palms). Once you get it in your hair, it spreads easily and smoothly. It is easy to comb through and style in a pomp. I would say the shine is low and the hold is a medium to strong hold that also allows you to restyle throughout the day (if need be). It consistently holds up throughout the entire day (even through a vigorous bike ride workout). As far as the water based side of the product, it easily comes out with a shampooing, however, if you prefer to leave some in to build on for the next day (like me), you can simply wash with water and then add to it the following day. It really seems to be the perfect mix between an oil base and a water base (it doesn't harden into a wet looking gel like Layrite does). Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this product and HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone who loves pomade but is looking for something more natural that is not going to harm your hair.

Ain’t what they used to be
Well I will not be buying from O’Douds again. I really feel ripped off. I decided to compare this to my previous purchase and was shocked what they did. First, they have decreased the amount in each jar by 15% and are charging the same amount. (Check out the photo). Also, you now get it in some cheap aluminum tin instead of the nice glass one, which doesn’t keep a great seal because mine was delivered very dry. Both are recyclable so I can’t see that as an issue or are they trying to save money on shipping? How could a company that is supposed to feel independent use big corporate tactics. I have been using this product for 6 years now. This will be my last. Unbelievable poor taste!!

Good stuff
This is my first time trying this pomade. I have used other water based and oil based pomade in the past. Nothing has made my hair feel like this after a wash. I think it's a mixture of the beeswax and jojoba oil that softens my hair after a wash. It does leave a light resedue of the wax but it makes my hair feel healthy. The water based pomades I've used in the past had A LOT of chemicals in them as well as alcohol this caused my hair to be frizzy and increasingly dry after every wash. It does take a little getting used to the consistency of it because it is more of a thick cream. I like to use it when my hair is damp it's easier to style and when my hair drys it gives some extra strength. Keep in mind this stuff won't harden like a helmet you can restyle all day but it will keep your hair in place. I have yet to use it for any high styles I currently have an undercut with about 4 inches of length on top. It does a great job keeping my hair in place all day at work and night when I go out for a drink after. As for the smell it's very fresh and not too overpowering I can some times smell it when it's in my hair but not always. The smell is labled as a citrus cedar and honestly is was hard for me to picture but I definately get those woodsy notes right out of the jar and I feel like the citrus is a bit muted which I prefer. All in all I really like the scent but I wouldn't mind if they had other options maybe some thing with rosemary, woods and musk. I will be buying this product again as well as others from their line of hair products and I am looking forward to trying their cologne as well.

Good.
Hold is medium and the pomade is water based. It's very stiff in the hair when you first apply it, but a comb gets it moldable for however style. Keeps the hair smooth and slick through the day. Smells like a cup of Mountain Dew almost. I'd 5 it but I don't like how when you rub your hands together to get the pomade broken down, it ends up at the end of your fingers and hands.

Great Stuff!
This stuff is excellent! It holds just the right amount and helps give your hair a healthy shine. This is NOT a high shine product. Keep that in mind. It's definitely more for a natural look, but you can layer it on if you really need a shine. The only downside is that you REALLY have to work it together in your hands. It can take a solid minute until it reaches the proper stickiness. And it is very stick and kind of hard to wash off your hands when compared to other water based pomades. However, it combs through hair very easily! Which is a huge plus for many. The scent is very pleasant. It almost smell like Key-lime Pie! It is not an overbearing smell though, and you really can't even smell it after a couple minutes. Another plus I've found is that unlike other pomades, it doesn't leave your hair dry after you wash it out. In fact, it does the complete opposite. It conditions your hair as you wash it out! I think that is thanks to the jojoba oil. Overall, I'd recommend this to pretty much anyone looking for a good water based pomade. It's all natural too!
