Drying, high quality
I am in my late 40's with incredibly dry and sensitive skin. This comes in a simple plastic bag that is resealable with a ziplock closure after opening. This is one of the best kaolin clay powders I have tried . . . it is very finely milled and feels soft to the fingers. It is easy to mix in your hand with a little water (add water in small bits) and to smooth on your skin. I find it to be calming and soothing. There is the normal smell but no added fragrance. One thing about these types of masks is that they tend to create snow when completely dry. I (as a result) tend to use these prior to showering. That way, I can apply it, relax a bit, then hop in the shower to rinse off meaning no mess is created. I do find this to be drying so I am careful of when I use it. I don't always do my whole face but just problem areas.

Finely milled, no clumps, no added ingredients just clay.
Would I get it again or recommend it: Yes Why: It's a great option for a skincare masking ingredient at a good price and 8 oz (1/2 pound) size. The quality is excellent and there are no clumps or scents, and it was very finely ground. Pros: -No added dyes or other irritating ingredients. -Good value for 8 oz (1/2 pound). -High quality. No odor, clumps, it was finely milled. (see pictures). Cons: -None Tips: -You may need to store it in your own air proof container. -If you're inexperienced with clays and mask making, you might want to note that sometimes just using clay with water can be irritating or drying to the skin. -If it burns your skin or stings, you should learn to adjust the PH. It’s simple and easy to do. -This is due to the PH of the skin and the PH of the clay and water. Commercially made masks use ingredients that are PH adjusters to get the right balance of PH. Each clay has a different PH and has to be adjusted differently and at different amounts. -You can adjust the PH to where it should be to not be irritating to the skin by adding tiny amounts as needed of food grade citric acid or common baking soda to your clay and water mixture. You can use inexpensive PH strips or papers to test (I don't use a whole strip, but tear of a bit). -Google labmuffin clay PH for a great article on how to simply and safely do this. I'm not affiliated but a fan. She's an actual scientist with a love of beauty and she explains how to do this to get the right balance of PH. Final Thoughts: -This is a high quality mud for mask making at a good value for the amount you get.

Not a great mask
I was hoping to use this as a facial mask maybe once a week. Two hings I ran into using just this Kaolin clay powder: one, it doesn't mix extremely easily with water. Two, once it starts to dry wherever it was applied, it turns back into a powder and starts falling off with the slightest movement. I think this would make a great ingredient for a facial or hair mask, but using on its own is kinda pointless. I will keep it to use on poison ivy, zits, and ant bites.

Great bag for those who use this
I have used this type of clay powder for years for my face, but it is hard to find it now without added extras in it, which can cause me to break out and have allergic reactions, so running across this one, I decided to give it a try. If one is concerned about it not having extras, it is extremely simple to add your own. I either use a mortar and pestle or just mix it in my hand and wet it just enough to spread. This works great for me. I have oily skin, and my pores tend to clog easily, and this clay has always done a great job for me. I normally only have to use it as needed once or twice, and then I just wait until I need it again. It can dry you out, but I would not recommend using it often anyway, and moisturizing is not the point of these clays. They are better for exfoliating and sloughing off dead skin, then a moisturizer can be used. I would get this brand again.

I dont understand what happened with this clay, but it doesnt mix well with water. Its truly difficult to make a good smooth face mask with it. I tried it with hot water, cold water, room temperature water, I tried it with a mixer.... And nothing. You can somehow smash the clay balls with your fingers and somehow manage to make a mask and put it on your face but still its not a paste.
