Serve's its purpose
Utensils and small dishes kept falling in the garbage disposal drain. This prevents that from happening.

Works great!
I’ve used these for years! They can be hard to find but they are worth searching for.

Works Great, but Lasted Less Than a Year
Excellent for keeping unwanted items from getting in the disposal mechanism, and holes are larger enough for good water flow. Two rows broke in about 8 months leaving a 1 inch x 1 inch hole, allowing utensils from falling into the disposal gears. I'm trying another brand.

Good quality, good design
I was looking for something to block small spoons and small objects from dropping into the garbage disposal and getting damaged or damaging the disposal. A metal teaspoon measurer fell victim to the disposal. I don’t want to reach in even though it has a magnetic activation. We had a plastic one with medium holes that fell apart and covered part of the metal sink around the drain, allowing buildup of film and debris. Then a fine metal mesh that clogged and was a pain to constantly clean. This looked like the perfect solution; and the only item close to what could solve my needs. I was worried about the negative reviews but decided to take a chance due to its perfect problem solving fit. I have used it non-stop for 3 months. I waited to write a review to see if it would break. Based on the in-depth reviews, thank you fellow shoppers, I made a decision on how to use it to avoid problems. Since cracking was an issue I make sure not to smack it on the side of the garbage to clean off. I gently wipe off any debris into the garbage and just rinse off my hand while rinsing it to get any last bits. Since it sits down in the garbage disposal it is below the level of dishes stacking on it. I stack to the sides not on top. When poring off hot water into the sink I remove it to avoid heat tempering the plastic which could cause it to crack. With a few simple conscious use methods it has help up well and I expect it will continue. The flipping that occurs in my sink is easy, I gently push on one side or use my pinky to flip it back. I make sure not to put the water on directly over it but slightly to the side and it works just fine. I highly recommend this product and would buy one again if I needed; since it has not broken I won’t need too.2022 and 3 years later it is still holding up.A little warped since some have not removed it before pouring boiling pasta water on it, but still holding up.

Works great for us!
We wanted a drain guard to prevent the accidental destruction of our silverware and our garbage disposal when a utensil inadvertently fell into our drain and we didn't notice. And even when we did notice, I hate putting my hand in the drain to pull out the utensil. But we didn't want a solid drain guard or one with small openings because we regularly throw food into our sink to get chopped up by our garbage disposal. Fortunately, this device solved both problems. The grid is big enough to allow soft and small food items to go through it without getting stuck on it (I'm talking food like rice, mashed potatoes, soft pet food, peas, etc.). Larger food items will get stuck, but we don't usually use our garbage disposal for larger items, and when we do or something just doesn't fall through, it's easy to just lift up and turn to the side so that the food falls right into the drain. We also (so far) haven't had the problem some reviewers describe of it falling apart after a few months of use, and if/when it ultimately needs to be replaced, we'll just replace it because few things last forever and because it does a good job solving for the problems we needed it to solve for.

Knob is too big, also not a "screen"
Considering there's not much too this, it either fits and therefore works or it doesn't, and then it's all about durability, which according to a few reviews seems to be lacking. The reason I took a star off is because the knob/handle is too large. If it were smaller, the sink plug could fit right over it, allowing you to leave this in place at all times. As it is, the knob gets in the way, so this has to be removed every time you want to plug the sink. Not only is this an inconvenience, but given the apparent lack of durability this only increases the likelihood of it becoming damaged. Also, based on the word "screen," I expected it to have a screen material across it, and was actually planning on using it as a replacement strainer for the other side of the sink. I'm not removing any stars, because had I looked closer at the picture I would have been able to tell that isn't the case, but I'm just mentioning it in case somebody happens to read this and not make the same mistake. I ended up keeping it to use for its intended purpose, and it is nice to not have to worry if something went down the drain before running the disposal, so it wasn't a total loss.Update 9/19/15: It's been a little over a year, and with constant use and regularly switching this out for the sink plug, typically setting it on the top of the sink but sometimes leaving it in the sink to be banged around by everything else in the sink, I've had no issues with durability. I would still love to be able to just leave it in place, as there are times I hesitate to run the disposal after pulling the plug on a full sink, since this isn't in place to keep something from sneaking into the drain. Perhaps I'll modify the plug to remove the piece that interferes with the handle on this.

Duh!!
This simple device fits and works perfectly as designed. It only took me three spoons to finally figure out it would be best to get something to cover my disposer whole.

Great item
I was looking for the garbage disposal drain and black so that you can’t see the dirt and it just looks cleaner… Perfect! If it’s perfect and works great.

Rusted within a week
We bought two of these for our white porcelain kitchen sink. They started to rust within a week. A complete waste of money.

Bonito pero se ensucia mucho.
El diseño es muy bonito pero como son de metal se manchan de hongos muy fácilmente y hay que restregarlos casi a diario para quitarles el moho.

Purchased for use in a bathtub. Quite ineffective at stopping hair from going down the drain, and also tends to hold soap scum around the rim.
