Exactly what’s needed for a dog button mat
So… lots of people seem upset that there are no buttons included. I, however, read the description and am SO very happy with this button mat. It fits the HFW (Hunger for Words) buttons but ALSO fits the cheaper multipack of 8 buttons I purchased on Amazon (roughly 9cm/ 3.5” diameter). We first set up her buttons on cardboard with Velcro dots to keep them stable, but our 3-month old standard poodle puppy chewed that incessantly. We also bought a competitive product with hexagonal buttons and a matching mat, but the button holes popped completely out, so the buttons fell through if you moved the mat. The HFW buttons are more expensive and the sound quality is not as good as the cheaper buttons. That said if you want to give your dog multiple buttons, keeping them in the same order is very important (so they know which button is which, due to dog colourblindness & inability to read 😉). This is a major challenge with cheaper mats, and while you could make a button board with plywood and attached the buttons with Velcro, that’s a lot more work than just buying this mat which suits the purpose & is expandable. So… I bought the expensive mat. It’s worth it. The buttons do not require the Velcro dots to keep them in place as they fit nicely in the cutout. It’s made of something like neoprene with a harder rubber-ish bottom. Our pup no longer has an interest in chewing the button mat (she tried at first, but wasn’t as interested as she was in chewing cardboard). We’ve been using the HFW (Hunger For Words) method with our pup for 2.5 weeks and she uses her “outside” button the most (bc housetraining was most critical!), but also “play” (frequently), “cuddles” (occasionally), “all done” (a few times), and “eat” (only once when she was hungry before her normal dinner time, probably due to the clocks changing & switching her from 3 feeds a day to 2 feeds). She hasn’t used her water button, but we’re good about keeping that filled, so she doesn’t really need to ask…. We (family of 3 humans) model all of her buttons multiple times a day, again following the HFW method outlined in the two books (“How Stella Learned to Talk” & “Your Dog Can Talk” both by Christina Hunger). It works really well! Our pup likes this mat so much she frequently sits right next to it.

Does the job
This fit my buttons well, but I decided to change to a better button system so didn't get to use these in anger, but they are up for the job, if this is the size of button you are working with. It had a bit of weight to it and wasn't flimsy.

Great mat but too expensive
Great mat for putting the talking buttons on. Its a good size with spaces between the buttons. My dog hasnt been able to move it yet while pawing at the buttons, so thats good that its going to stay in place with all her boisterous pawing of the buttons! I have several different brands of buttons and all of the larger ones fit in the mat so im really pleased with that. I marked it down to 4 stars simply because of the price. Very expensive for what it is.

Expensive for what it is
Expensive for what it is but we needed it so had to get it. I don’t think I would purchase again, I’d look for a cheaper alternative even if I had to wait longer for shipping.

NOT "two pieces" - you only get one mat!
This mat is expensive but I bought it because it said there are TWO PIECES on the packaging I.e. two mats that join together. But there is only one mat. The product breakdown say there is one mat if you look in the detail so this "two pieces" advert is misleading. I am returning mine and instead will tape my buttons onto a piece of wood or plastic with double-sided tape.

£20 is a lot to pay for one rubber mat - there are no buttons included -
In the description, it is stated that buttons can be bought separately , but the pack just contains one rubber mat with shapes punched out for the buttons ... definitely not worth £20.

マットにボタンがはまるだけでこの値段は高過ぎる。犬がひっかいたらボタンも簡単に外れた。

La base nécessaire pour votre projet. Tout les boutons s’y insèrent.

Excellent base for the talking buttons. Keeps them in the same place so the animal (my cat) can learn easily. Quality material and lightweight.

Lo compré en una promoción y caben bien los botones de la misma marca

Really like the way this mat holds the buttons in place but also you can leave in the piece to not have a gap if not using. Has held up well and doesn't slide around on the floor.
