The Heritage of World Civilizations: Volume 1 (9th Edition)

This book has various pictures and maps which are helpful, and it is useful to study world history.

Rented it for a college class. Its pretty expensive for a cheap paperback book and I feel bad for those who do not have the option to rent this. Overall helped with the class, but I would not buy it just to read on my free time.

This book, unlike many history books, is actually quite readable. It has a lot of excellent information. But it is not worth the $108 I paid for it. It is thin, paperback, and clearly aimed at college students who have no choice but to by the book because it's required for their class.

The text was exactly what I needed for my class and the price was a lot better than buying it directly from the college campus bookstore.

With such credentialed authors you would expect a well written, well organized textbook. The book is written and organized as if the authors merely dictated all of their knowledge and it was transcribed and an attempt at organization was made. My daughter needed this for the online World History course she was forced to take because there was no other option for this semester. The course is totally automated, she does have a teacher but most of the grades come from online assessments from the book publisher. Even the essays are automated and come with assessment software from the publisher (meaning the teacher doesn't actually read the essays). No outside information can be used to take the assessments or essays since it is automated to the published book. That means no outside research or siting of other resources. Where is the education in this? I have a Bachelor of Arts in History and am just appalled not only with the book, but the entire course. If you are a student or parent with a student taking a course using this book, or taking the publisher's online course I would advise you to find another option.

Great book!

The book arrived in good time. But was a lot more marked up that I had anticipated. I'll make it work, but it was disappointing.

The book was in terrible condition.
