Has a nice backlit LED screen, a flashlight, and feels solid
I don't need to use a multimeter too terribly often, but when I always find myself frustrated because I have those low-quality cheap ones that you can get for free at Harbor Freight. I've had the metal tips fall right out of the handles, I've had the leads not able to stay plugged into the multimeter, I've had the knob break, and I've had them just not turn on right out of the package. This seems to happen every time I need to use one of them, including this last time when I was helping diagnose my parent's electric dryer which had stopped working, so I finally broke down and just got a real multimeter. I'm not an electrician so I didn't need a rugged high quality one for daily use, just one that could be used a few times a year and actually work when I pulled it out of my toolbag. The one I got was this Eventek ET820. It has all your typical multimeter functions such as the ability to measure AC and DC voltage, current, and resistance, plus it has an backlit LED screen and a flashlight. It also has something I had not known about before I started looking into getting a good multimeter: a clamp that will measure the current of a wire just by putting that wire through the clamp. I can't think of a time I've ever needed to do this but since I was going for a good multimeter I figured I may as well get one with this so I wouldn't have to buy a separate one later in case the situation ever arrived. This multimeter is slim enough that it can be easily held with one hand, including opening the clamp. It comes with two leads, a black and a red, both having caps to protect the metal tips and caps to protect the ends that plug into the meter. The fit firmly in the bottom of the meter so there's no worry about them just falling out, and the plugs are angled at 90 degrees to you can lean the meter against the wall.I haven't had reason to actually use this meter since getting it, thus so far I've only tested it out on known working electrical outlets to test out the leads and on some power cords to test out the clamp. The electrical outlets gave me the expected readout and I got a reading off the power cords but I have no idea what the readings were supposed to be so I can't say if it was accurate or not. This meter comes with with a soft carrying case, a pair of leads, a foldout user manual, and a user's guide book. The foldout manual fits nicely in the carrying case, but unfortunately it's all in Spanish. I opened it up completely and checked both sides, and it's 100% Spanish. The user's guide book is in English, French, German, and Italian, so maybe the foldout Spanish manual was an afterthought? Unfortunately, unlike the foldout manual the user's guide book doesn't fit inside the carrying case. This seems like a huge oversight as if I want to keep the manual with me I either have to rip out the English pages, fold them, and place them in the carrying case's pouch or I have to find another bag to hold both the carrying bag and the manual. Oh, and the guide book has a typo right on the cover, saying "Digital Multimeter ser's Guide"... how did this make it through the approval process? I would knock a half-star off my rating score for this manual oversight but Amazon doesn't let you do half-stars so I have to choose, either 4 or 5 stars... I guess I'll round up and do 5 since the problem is with the dimensions of the user manual and not the product itself.I'm not a professional electrician so I'm probably not the best person to review this, but I hope I was able to provide some helpful information for the average person. If you think I missed something or got something wrong, please let me know in the comments.

Black lead falls out
I just bought this because it was a good price. Used it multiple times at work today work perfectly and all the functions do what they are sopposed to do. It is wel built and all around a great multimeter. The only bad thing is the leads. The red fit perfectly but the black is to small and falls out. I put tape on it to hold it in but I read other reviews and people are saying the same thing so just be prepared for the black lead to fall out. It will worked fine for me today after I put the tape to hold it in.

Accurate, Affordable, Easy to Read, and Versatile!
Exactly what I was looking for! I needed a reliable, accurate, battery tester that could do consumer batteries (which I use a lot of) and also one that could test a car battery, if needed. This unit is easy to read, fits my hand well, and, although it's not as small as others that I've had, it is capable of doing more than those others. The price was right and I am very happy with the tester! I am going to find a small clamping stand that will hold the domestic batteries (AA, C, D, 9 volt, watch batteries, etc.) in place while I use/need two hands to attach the probes. The manual that comes with it has the specs and information that someone who is knowledgeable about using these meters would benefit by but for someone (like me) who only has a rudimentary understanding of how these testers really work, I wish that the manufacturer has included a basic 'how to use this tester to measure...' explaining all of the different uses of the tester. I had to go online to find most of that info but I would have found it much more convenient to have had those instructions packed with the unit. That being said, I am very pleased with this multimeter and would definitely purchase another one if needed.

Easy to use
I bought the Eventek multimeter specifically because I needed the clamp to make some current measurements. I was checking the current draw on the compressor in my backup refrigerator. I was able to measure the peak current draw as the compressor was starting using the ‘max hold’ function, as well as the steady running value.Of course, the meter also comes with a nice set of leads for measuring voltage and resistance. I’ve used these functions as well and found them to work great. The unit has large numbers on the display so it is easy to read, and has a backlight for even better visibility.Another nice feature is the non-contact voltage function. In this mode, you can get a light and sound indication of the presence of voltage when just checking to see if a circuit is hot. The unit stores neatly in the included zipper pouch.

Pretty flimsy plastic body. Tiny instruction sheet. One needs better for even homeowner use I feel. It does work though.
Pretty low grade plastic construction. Battery is in a cage in back and takes two AAA cells. No instructions provided on battery access but it was not hard to get the old ones out. Overall feeling is that this is a little too low grade in overall quality to be a useful shop tool. I plan to look for something twice as costly but a little easier for my fingers to handle and not so sticky a knob. Lots of little plastic covers to get lost. Tiny screw in back with no stop. Manual is in minute print. I presume the item works but I am used to a little sturdier construction and keep instruments for a long time. This is not one for the long haul, sorry to report. I wish the old Radio Shack pocket meter did not quit on me.

It's OK
As a basic multi meter it works fine. The non-contact power sensor doesn't seem to work very well. The leads don't set in the sockets tightly and tend to fall out. The alligator clip attachments to the test leads are worthless.

Good Quality, good deal
Much better quality than others for sale at same price. I am not an electrician, just an amateur so it would be nice if the manual gave some better instructions. Something I can read without needing a magnifying glass A YouTube tutorial maybe. My previous multi meter lasted 30 years. It was simple. Did not need a manual. In the end, I really can't complain. Thank you for a good product.
