Hard > Medium, Sugar Wax > Regular Wax
Let me just preface this by saying I'm not girl-saavy. I can't blow dry or style my hair nor can I wax or thread. I also don't have the patience to shave multiple times a week. I tried bead wax and it was messy and time consuming. I looked into sugar wax when I saw a video of someone getting it professionally done and it looked so fast and easy. I tried to make my own at home maybe 10+ times and of those 10+ times I was only successful once. I almost gave up on sugar waxing till I figured I'd look into amazon to see if they sell any pre-made and lo and behold I came across this brand. Since I'm a total noob I had no idea what level to get but I knew for sure I didn't want soft since that requires wax strips/fabric and ain't nobody got time for that. So, I bought medium and hard. I first started off with medium and it. Was. A. Nightmare. The wax got everywhere and it stuck to my hands making it completely unmanageable. I have no idea why they said you could do this with your hands because when it comes to medium you can't. Maybe I'm just inexperienced. Who knows? So, I then tried hard and boy let me tell you it was so. Much. Better. Absolutely life changing. It was so easy to pick up and it wasn't overly sticky on my hands. After it warms up thoroughly it did a great job pulling hair from my legs, arms, and bikini area. It definitely does take practice and getting used to in terms of using it but overall I got 80% of the hair off my body and the other 20% I could've continued doing it but again my patience wore thin. After using the same wax ball for a while it does get super sticky and unmanageable which at that point I just threw out and got a new one. There will be sticky residue left on your body but that's easily solved by taking a warm shower and wiping your body down or getting a warm, wet towel and cleaning your body with that. Overall, yes sugar wax is messy like regular wax but it is SO much faster which is awesome if you have little patience like myself. If you prefer less chaos and like to take your time then regular wax is better for you.

Skip and go straight to a hot wax alternative
I've seen numerous videos on "Sugaring" and thought it seemed like a quick and efficient method to waxing versus the hot wax and strip method. In these videos, you essentially just keep rolling the hard wax up and keep using it to wax more areas until the wax is no good and you start with a fresh amount. So I decided to try it out and bought this item. Upon opening it, there are basic instructions for how to use it. These instructions are the same as I've seen in videos. 1. The wax is EXTREMELY thick and hard. I almost couldn't even get the container open without breaking the lid. No problem though. I expected this. 2. I first tried getting a good amount out with my bare hands and within 5-10 seconds of handling it, it instantly turned into a thick syrup just from the warmth of my fingers and wasn't even pliable anymore. I mean there was wax strung EVERYWHERE and wouldn't come off. 3. It says to use nitrate gloves when using. So I tried this method. Thought maybe it would keep it from melting so fast. Got them, perfect! Wrong. The wax is so thick and tough, it tore the gloves into pieces trying to get it out of the container and got mixed in with the wax. Of course, once it hit my bare skin, it started to melt again. FAIL. 4. I powered up the area I wanted to use it on. Quickly grabbed some from the container using my hands and of course within 5-10 seconds of spreading it on, it turned to a syrup and there was no pulling it off. I essentially had to wash it off with hot water. If I had to strips, this would have worked fine but this product is supposed to be pliable enough to not require strips but just be able to spread and yank the product off itself. In other words, this product is trash. I grabbed the whole container and dumped it in the trash. If you want to get waxed, go get it professionally done. This is a waste of time.

Did you know about this??
Are you kidding me? I'm so pissed off. You mean I could have been doing this from the start? Why didn't anyone tell me?! I was looking into various waxing options when I came across sugaring. I wasn't really sold on the concept because it looked the same as waxing regularly. But it wasn't super expensive so I grabbed the hard kind (reviews mentioned it working better). It was visibly super thick and sticky when I opened the container. I had a bit of difficulty getting it out of the tub, but once I got enough I immediately tried it on my arm. Omfg ... it took the hair off immediately and didn't hurt much at all. I tried it on my leg hair thinking it was probably a fluke and same result. I am shook. For the record, I watched a couple videos before trying it out - one professional and one amateur. I didn't use gloves or talc. In an hour I did both arms and knee down of both legs. Then my fingers got tired and I was sticky so I gave up, but I'm gonna finish the rest tomorrow. Considering that I was successful on my first try and got pretty good results I would easily recommend this to everyone. I would also add that you probably need gloves just to keep the sugar from melting as quickly, but I was still able to do an arm and half a leg with the same ball before it turned into putty. I didn't need the talc and I'm not sure if it's necessary at all, but I might try it out some other time. Please also don't think it's completely painless...I have a pretty high threshold but the back of my knees still hurt. I would assume bikini waxing would still be pretty painful. I've also seen done other brands come with a "flicker" and I'm gonna look into one because it's a pretty thick spread and eventually my fingers needed a break. I'm not going back to waxing. This is easier, faster, and probably cheaper. I'm hoping results do last longer but who cares since it's so easy. The only downside is the container...I wish it was thicker so it didn't warp when trying to get the sugar out. Otherwise, I'm sold and I will go shouting from the rooftops so everyone knows this is an option for hair removal.

I want to give this a higher rating bc it does work but...
...I expected it to be a bit more firm being a medium sugar wax. I'm new to it, so to be fair I didnt know what to expect. It was just so soft it melted right onto my skin after a few pulls, and I found myself having to rinse and dry my hands and skin after every few pulls... Maybe I'm hot blooded lol. However, when it worked, it WORKED! I loved how it really got the hair out leaving my skin really silky smooth and no prickly stubble, and it grew back more sparse and the strands seem thinner. I think it was very pain-free, but I've used an epilator which I find quite painful...so comparing to that it doesn't hurt at all. It certainly takes some technique in how you apply and remove, and it can be quite messy if your new to it I guess, but it's easy to rinse off. It doesn't leave that annoying sticky feeling like most waxes, and warm water takes it right off, no problem. I found it much easier to use if the AC was really cold so it would melt into my skin as fast and I could get more use out of each wax ball. Maybe using an applicator instead of my hand would've worked better. The packaging wasn't the best, it felt sticky as soon as I got it, and had wax droplets around the outside even before I removed the plastic. Overall, I'd say this might do well in cold climates or people who keep their house on Arctic status. I'd like to try a harder wax next time.

Works great But for Beginners Get Hard wax...
This works great, once I learned what I was doing. The directions included are not very clear so I went looking up different videos on YouTube, and the actual brands website for help. First time when I tried to use this it was really stiff so I heated it up as the directions said by 5 seconds, well it was too warm for me to pick up (thick syrup like consistency) and pull the hairs. Well after putting in the fridge a bit to cool it worked way better but I've noticed it's really hard to get out of the container cold and apparently the surface of my body heats it up pretty quickly that it becomes too sticky way too quick. Which the company site does say that rookies to sugar wax typically make the mistake of buying softer waxes thinking it'll be easier to use, that actually harder waxes are easier. I believe it. I thought I was doing good by buying the medium myself. Well lesson learned I will get the harder one next time. Now some reviews mentioned a rash, doing further research on sugar waxing that could be caused by allergic reaction but also red rash like bumps can be caused from improper tearing/flicking or even cause light bruising. This also depends on the area you're waxing, and the sensitivity of your skin. On my calves I didn't have an issue with this but I did a little on my thighs. So for the newbies like me make sure you are pulling parallel to your skin and tightening the area as u pull to prevent this and use a cooling spray or simply put ice on the irritated area ASAP to help. From what I saw online this company sells a cooling mist and other products for this reason. Also I didn't use powder first which would've probably helped with the bruising issue too. Also from my research evidently if you're on or about to be on your period that could cause your skin to be more sensitive too and be the reason for the irritation/bruising. Basically the wax is great and does it's job but new sugar waxers should most likely get the hard one not medium, take a few trial and error attempts at what works best for u, & be careful with how you're tearing/pulling the wax. Best of luck! I figured it out & so can you! :)

Loved it! Tips for using the sugar paste
Ok, I guess I'm getting hooked on this thing. Half a year ago I got tired of shaving and decided to go for a wax epilation. Didn't like it. It was painful, I didn't get perfectly clean skin and I got a terrible irritation and itching. I heard a lot about sugar epilation and decided to give epilation a second try. I tried to find a sugaring salon which was a very difficult task - it seems that no one is doing sugaring. But I liked it much better - no pain, no irritation - and the skin is sooooo smooth and silky! Next level - I found sugar paste on Amazon, because sugaring is freakin' expensive. Even with first 2-3 times of trial and error( mostly error, duh) it's so much cheaper to buy the paste and do sugaring at home ( I am also so busy that it's hard to make an apointment and the nearest salon is still very far) Here's the things I learnt the hardest way: 1) Buy good before and after products: cleaning solutions, good talc ( I used simple corn starch from my kitchen cabinet, it did the job but I'm buying a professional talc next time) 2) Use Nitrile gloves. NITRILE. I bought the cheapest ones and they were a mess - got stuck to the paste, than to each other, then got ripped - so I didnt even get to applying the paste on my skin ( lol) 3) apply the paste in thick layer - if yu're not a super professional ( like me) make sure you have enough paste to hold on to. - The thicker I applied it, the easier it was to remove it. 4) Apply the paste against the hair growth and rip it off along the hair growth. Doesn't sound logical and it took me some time and bunch of youtube videos to figure it out. But as soon as I did - no irritation and red dots! 5) Bikini zone is still terrible - I realized that when I use small portion of the paste, it's easier and less painful. But it takes more time, and the skin gets hot, so the paste melts and sticks, so i wasn't able to do the whole bikini zone ( i mean deep bikini) in one go If anyone has some ideas, please sare. Also, does anyone know how to sugar very deep? I don't dare to do full Brazilian ( don't want to tear off some precious parts along with sugar, lol) 6) Heat the paste in a pot or bowl with hot water ( Put it in the water in the container, make sure the water doesn't get in!) If you heating it in microwave, 10-15 secs is enough ( I overheated the first small container I bought and had to throw it away) 7 ) Spatula An amazing tool I found at the Sugaring Factory website. My hands are not very strong and it was very difficult for me to scoop the paste out. Not any more! So, all in all I am super excited, especially when I get more and more experienced working with sugar paste. It's inexpensive, I can do it any time I am ready, painless - yay!

Buy a different brand.
I think sugaring is one of the best methods for at-home depilation, and I've had success with other brands in the past. This brand, in my experience, has one fatal flaw. Once it gets soft enough to be spreadable, after one or two strokes, it becomes so soft that it no longer sticks to itself and simply stretches. This is a nightmare when it comes to sugaring, because it means that you pull, and the sugar wax pulls on your hairs, but instead of pulling them out, the wax that's attached to the hairs separates from the part you're pulling on. It hurts when this happens, and you are left with wax-covered hairs. You have to then keep going over this area, probably with the same results multiple times. What you want is a wax that spreads over the hairs, and with a quick, clean tug, neatly pulls everything out in one go. That's much less painful and frustrating. I give it two starts because it is possible to, with oceans of patience, work around and through this issue. In order to get both of my armpits waxed, I had first refrigerate the wax to harden it, then had to use the tiniest little globs, and keep getting new wax every two pulls. Even then, I had the pulling issue. Because of this, I also make trips to stand in front of my A/C unit to cool the wax that was left over on my armpit hairs down enough to stick to the new wax. Horribly frustrating experience. I've used this brand several times, and was always able to get the job done, but it's now happened enough that I'm over it. Not worth it. I'm probably going to buy Cocojojo again, which is a brand I used before and didn't have this problem with.

With lots of patience, a newbie can learn this
So it did take a bit to get used to. I am a complete novice, but after a while I got used to how to properly use it. I didn’t need to heat it up in the microwave. I just used a stick to get some of the paste out and work it in my hands to make it a little soft. And then from there I pressed and smeared it against the grain of my hairs (it should be almost soft at this point. Lightly sticking to your skin while you smear it but not overly sticky) and then I pull it with the growth of my hair. It took a VERY long time to get used to initially but as I kept going, I started to understand how to use it. When it gets to the point that it’s OVERLY goopy, that’s when you get rid of it and grab a new glob. Take note that you don’t need to grab a handful of it, just a little bit more than a pinch. I see other reviewers that hate this stuff, but it all comes down to patience and understanding how this works. If you’re new to this and don’t have patience, don’t buy this until you have watched a few videos. But I really like this product better than waxing. It does get messy, but it washes out very easy. Literally soap and water is all you need.

A little too soft. Not the right texture
Gets over worked and gummy very easily. Even after using a good size glob it gets too warm and too soft very quickly
