O'skool 3 inch Sanding Drum Kit for Drill or Drill Press

The drum came with a coarse grit sand paper. I had purchased sheets of 120, 220, 400, 600 and 1000 grit sand paper, cut them into 3” x 9” wide strips. They were easy to load and worked exactly as I had hoped. Easy to load and get tight around the drum. The only challenge for me was the finer grit paper ( 600 and 1000) tended to slip due to the thinner paper but to compensate for this, I was able to slide a piece of 120 grit paper around the inner spool. That solved my issue. I was polishing the rim of drinking glasses I was making from bottles and the 1000 grit really brought out the clarity. Also I slowed the drill press speed down to 1080 rpm. After polishing 6 glass rims, I would need to replace the sand paper. No biggie, paper doesn’t last forever when suffering that kind of abuse.

I wish this style was offered in more sizes, such as 1", 2", etc. But this is a nice design. It's a replacement for one I previously had for 15+ years that I misplaced. The old one was more metal and perhaps a little heavier built, but time will tell. All in all a very fine product for a good price and far superior to the kind which have the little rolls. Granted the initial cost of the other design is less, it really depends on how much you plan on using it and for how many years. I tend to buy tools that last.
