Decent product/Bad mounting hardware
Shelves are solid, straight, and good condition. They look nice on the wall. However, I recommend you at a minimum buy your own hardware to mount with. At a minimum buy better dry wall anchors. If you decide to use the hardware they send I have a few recommendations.1. Have a few drinks beforehand. You'll need it.2. Have something close by the break to let off some frustration.3. Send the kids away, they don't need to hear the words you'll be using soon. And I mean far away. Soon you'll be using words loud enough you'll have the neighbor three houses down blushing.4. And finally, let your religious leader, therapist, parole officer, wife, or whoever it is you check in with know that you'll need to have a long talk real soon.Other than that the product is great. Enjoy.

Must use toggle bolts!
I read the other reviews saying to use toggle bolts, but thought I could use the existing screws and anchors as long as I did it correctly and followed the video. Long story short, I was wrong. I ended up with a huge hole in the wall from trying to get the screws and anchors to work. After repairing the wall, I switched and instead used toggle bolts and had no problem. I still used the bracket that came inside the shelves, but used toggle bolts instead of the screws provided. I had to look up a video on how to use the toggle bolts, but they were easy to use once I knew how.The shelves are great now and can hold much more weight than with the screws and anchors. Every review that shows the shelves slanting/not level or items falling off the shelves could have been fixed with toggle bolts. The wood itself is great quality and we are happy with the shelves!

Mounting
We really like these shelves, they are very attractive and solid. After reading reviews about how difficult mounting seemed to be, we checked and measured everything before we started. It is the paper template that is off just a fraction. We placed the template on the board where bracket screw holes are and punched holes in the paper after lining up. Two of the black dots were off ever so slightly. Using a level at every step we then placed the boards and pounded with a rubber mallet. Seem solid if you place things on the back of the shelf instead of towards the front edge.

rating is a joke
When I ordered this product, it had a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. I didn’t bother actually reading the reviews. After attempting to install the shelves, and running into many problems, I decided to it was time to read the reviews. Why do people give something a 5 star rating when the installation process was a nightmare? The only thing that is right with this product is the stain color. It advertises as 36” long, but it’s only 35 3/8”. It advertises as 1.5” thick, but is only 1 1/4” thick. The surface of one of the shelves was scratched. The bigger of the problems was the hardware. The holes in the back of the shelf that hang on the hardware are not 16” apart so you can’t hit two wall studs to securely mount the shelf to the wall. As a result, you have to use drywall anchors. That’s a MAJOR design flaw. The installation video shows the CEO/Owner screwing the anchors into the wall with a screwdriver. 3 of the 4 anchors stripped out before they were fully screwed in. Now what? Hammer them the rest of the way, or unscrew and use different anchors? I tried doing both and both had their own issues. The allen head screws that you’re instructed to use to pitch the shelf on a slight angle up? They all stripped out. The shelves are advertised to hold 40 lbs each. I dare anyone to put 40 lbs on these shelves without using additional hardware/brackets.I couldn’t be more dissatisfied. I would return them, but I now have 4 big holes in my wall from the mounting hardware and I don’t feel like filling them and painting. I’ll be heading to Home Depot to get some small L-brackets to place underneath these “floating shelves”. Kind of defeats the purpose.
