I picked this mount because other mounts on amazon were flexible and reportedly do not stay in place well after fixing a camera position. This mount looked sturdy and it indeed keeps the camera angle fixed.

the camera fell off of the base plate and nearly missed my week old's head. i was at work. my girlfriend was home and asked me to check the footage. i haven't been able to take a look at it but understandably my girlfriend no longer wishes to use this product. it was a gift so i'll need to arrange a return at a later time. i don't envy the position of baby product manufacturers. you have to keep product affordable while at the same time ensuring upmost safety and intuitiveness. none the less even if this was an instance of user error there should be no room for something like that to create the possibility of harming a child, much less a newborn. i strongly advise considering a different mounting method for the base plate.

This is a great universal camera mount for your babies crib. It fits the railing perfectly and is adjustable to get the best angle.
