Excellent account and teaching resource
Written in spare, rhymed verse, this account of the tragic events of Karbala is an excellent introduction for English readers. It showcases the author's knowledge of the maqtal literature and creative interpretation in accessible, colloquial language. Thus it is a valuable pedagogical resource that should be introduced into the curriculum of Islamic schools, where students of all ages can use it as a model for writing assignments and performances. Because it is packed with historical detail, it is also useful for thinking through historiographical questions and will be very helpful to social studies teachers. Highly recommended.

wonderful, touching
These poems get to the heart of what Karbala means. So rare to have something like this in English.
