Necta Sweet Saccharin Tablets, 1-Grain, 1000 Tablet Bottle

This is good stuff. Wish they still sold this in supermarkets. But be warned that this "1 grain" version is too strong for a cup of coffee or tea. On bottle, it says that one tablet is equal to the amount of sugar you would put into 4 cups of coffee. I discovered that one tablet works in a kettle of coffee. But when I put it in a cup of coffee, it was so disgustingly sweet that I had to pour it down the sink. So today, I crushed the tablet with the top end of a spoon, and put a little of the powder in the coffee; it worked. Crush on a napkin or on a plate. Conclusion? Get the quarter grain version! Very important. That way you can add one or two tablets depending on your taste. The advantage of this over saccharine packets like Sweet and Low or its imitators is that you don't have to dump a bunch of dextrose in your cup. The disadvantage is that you have to stir, wait a minute or two, and stir again to have it completely diffused—whereas the packets dissolve instantly.

I have used these since I was 18 yrs old, when I stopped drinking pop of any kind and went to sweetened tea. They are great in 1 mg tablets, dissolve quickly, leave no residue and can be taken anywhere with you. I've used them 55 yrs with no side effects at all. I did discover they don't work well in hot coffee, a bit bitter in hot beverages but great in cold tea. Use a bit of tepid water to dissolve, all you get is great taste.

Tastes great.1 tab= 4 teaspoons or sugar.

Prefer the quarter grain but Amazon was out of that For years have used to sweeten my steeping iced tea. Used to buy in grocery. Then they no longer carried so found in drug store. Now can only buy through Amazon.

This was unavailable everywhere else. So glad to find them.
