Really nice, powerful program.
It’s easy to copy/paste from the Web, where I get most of my recipes. I type in the recipe name, enter # of servings, and paste a picture. Then it’s 3 quick steps- copy/paste the ingredients, directions, and notes - done. You can have multiple cookbooks and categorize recipes. Best of all you get the software on a dvd and you own it- no subscription costs! After a year you have to pay for updates which I don’t have a problem with. Oh, you can easily scale recipes too. I really like it; wish I’d discovered years ago. Well worth the money.

Mastercook subscription costs are outrageous after the first year they give you for 'free'
The mastercook.com subscription went up from $32 per year in 2023 to $45 in 2024 which is excessive for hosting a recipe file online. Generally speaking, the cost of online hosting is going down year over year not up! There is no justification for such a huge 40% price increase. They are gouging their existing subscription customer base.Mobile app (that uses the hosted recipe file as a source) is also extremely basic and there continues to be almost no innovation or improvement year over year. You still cannot even perform a basic search for recipes with specific ingredients ...... that should be 'table stakes'.

Missing key features
I use this application for recording my recipes. It is able to do that. I can easily edit and print recipes. It has an import assistant feature that speeds up copying recipes. Some obviously useful features are missing. For example, the ingredients list contains hundreds of ingredients from the default cookbooks or other sources. I want to remove many of them as their presence makes it more time-consuming to lookup the ingredients that I want to use. My only option is to remove the ingredients one at a time. This is so time-consuming that I live with the inconvenience of these unwanted ingredients. I requested the feature about a year ago. How hard is it?Another feature that I would like is to be able to search for a recipe within a cookbook by keyword or ingredient. That is not possible. I can filter by cuisine, rating, category, or predefined search. Predefined search includes low calorie, low sodium, high fiber. There is a long standing bug. When adding a new recipe, the More Info tab populates the source from the previous recipe that was added. So I always am careful to edit the fields on that tab.

Seriously, Mastercook??!!
After 15 years on the market and still no ability to format text (bold, highlight, change fonts) in the recipes? Even the simplest most braindead Windows apps have the ability to format text (and not by inserting ascii codes).Maybe a little less work on features designed to bring in annual revenues and a little more attention to basics that have been around since Windows 1.0x.
