A Great Smart Lock - But Be Prepared for Installation Challenges
I debated how many stars to give this. If half-stars were an option, I’d go with 4.5. Now that it's installed and working, I’m very happy with it. The build quality is excellent - it's weighty and feels built to last. It also looks great on the door. Functionally, it's unmatched; I couldn’t find anything else designed for multipoint locks that seamlessly integrates with the door rather than looking like a bolt-on accessory. The lock operates well, unlocking quickly via the mobile app and physical tags. It also integrates smoothly with Home Assistant for home automation. I previously used a Nuki smart lock, and while it worked, it had some limitations. The biggest downside was its lack of integration with the door - it couldn’t detect when the multipoint locks were engaged. The Yale is much nicer to use in this regard, as it automatically locks the door when the handle is pulled upwards. Another advantage of the Yale is RFID support - the Nuki didn’t allow RFID tags to be used outside the door, whereas the Yale does. Additionally, the Yale includes exposed terminals on the outside where you can connect a 9V battery in case of an emergency if the lock's batteries run out - another feature Nuki lacks. That said, installing the Yale was not straightforward. I spent a frustrating week trying to get it working reliably - sometimes it would unlock the door, sometimes it wouldn’t. Most advice online (and in Yale’s manual) pointed to an alignment issue, but in my case, the real problem was my door’s locking mechanism. Key takeaway: If every part of your door lock mechanism doesn’t run as smooth as butter, do not buy this lock unless you're prepared to replace it. My original lock barrel had too much friction for the motorized lock to turn reliably. Eventually, I replaced my entire multipoint mechanism with a Yale Doormaster kit, which solved the issue. This was an involved process, requiring me to fit all the replacement keeps into the doorframe, but it was manageable as a DIYer. Worth doing, especially since my old lock was 25 years old. The instructions could be clearer, and the installation process could be improved. The wire-to-board connector linking the two halves is incredibly fragile, and the stiff cable makes managing slack difficult during final fitting. Worse, the connector isn’t rated for multiple plug/unplug cycles, yet you have to do this several times while making minor adjustments. Yale should reconsider this design in future revisions. Now that the setup headaches are behind me, I’m very happy with the lock - but be aware of what you’re getting into!

Great idea, let me know when it actually works
I found the installation process quite difficult, and overall I’m very disappointed with this lock. The app only worked intermittently when trying to unlock the door automatically as I approached, which meant I often had to open the app manually and press “unlock” anyway—at that point, I might as well have just used a key. Locking the door from the inside is also frustrating, as the handle has to be lifted in a very specific way or it simply won’t lock. To make matters worse, both my partner’s phone and mine are now unable to connect to the app at all.

Great smart lock, no subscription
Excellent smart lock. No subscription needed which is a huge plus. Remote access works well and setup was straightforward. Feels solid and well-made. Gives great peace of mind being able to check the door is locked from anywhere.

One of the best locks out there, but installation might take some fine adjustments.
This is probably the most sleak looking lock on the market. I've had this for a year now, and I find myself using the app to unlock the door the most, and it works pretty reliably. I did find that you need to align the pigtail with the lock pretty accurately, otherwise the lock will not be able to tell if the door is locked, or it'll randomly beep saying the door is unlocked. But these issues can be ironed out with easily with just a few adjustments. The integration with Google home is ok, therefore I mostly only use the Yale lock app, which does support connecting automatically through either Bluetooth (if you're close to the lock), or WiFi (if Bluetooth fails or you're further away). Google home integration works but it's so slow at unlocking the door, which I just give up trying.

Easy to fit
Full review of this Yale smart lock. I purchased this whilst on sale at £150. The pros. Easy to install (took 30 mins, never changed a lock before) Simple lift to lock Auto lock when away from home Door sensor a great plus (if left ajar or open) Easy to add more keys and assign to people The downsides The app is very basic and a bit slow There were no instructions in the booklet for the magnet Auto unlock when home can be a bit delayed Unable to use phone to tap to unlock People mentioned it being loud but in my case it really is not (see video) the beep notification sound can also be changed via the app to be mute or louder. I am a smart home geek and have this integrated into my Home Assistant. Purchased some NFC tags, hidden them outside so now I can tap to unlock. Feel this should be a standard in the app and wouldn't take much for Yale to implement can only presume they want to sell the accessories. Would definitely recommend, just the app removes a star.

Junk
The handle is well made and high quality and the actual installation onto thew door was surprisingly easy (though I would only attempt it if you're a very confident DIYer). The problem with the product is the poor instructions, poor software and poor app (Which you have to find yourself as the one they send you to is not available). Bluetooth wont work with android and Homekit wont work with Apple. You can also only remote unlock, it is not possible to do remote lock and there is no manual backup. I actually got locked out when fitting it, because the app crashed, the connection crashed and the keys I had programmed failed to work. It's being returned, but I won't get back the 8 hours I spent messing around with this.

Brilliant Smart Lock
This is a sturdy product giving me confidence in its ability to keep my home safe. The lock is quite easy to install though I did get a little hung up on alignment - a very helpful call to Yale gave me the information - and confidence - to successfully complete that vital step. The lock works perfectly, automatically unlocking as I approach with my phone (there are tag/card alternatives to a phone). The phone app can also unlock the door - remotely and at the door. From the inside the door can be unlocked by the thumbturn. As with any multipoint locking door, it can only be locked by physically lifting the door handle (inside or out) - no domestic actuator can be strong enough to lock such a door. I wish it were otherwise but the alternative would be to fit a simpler locking system. (single lock). I am delighted with this Conexis L2 lock.

The biggest issue? The battery life
1 out of 5 stars A Smart Lock That’s Too Dumb to Stay Powered I had high hopes for the Yale Conexis L2, but it’s been nothing but a frustrating and unreliable experience. The biggest issue? The batteries. They don’t just drain fast — they vanish. I’m getting maybe one or two days out of fresh batteries before the lock dies completely. It’s a door lock. There’s absolutely no reason a smart lock should be this power-hungry. It’s not only inconvenient to constantly replace batteries, it’s a security risk — I can't trust it to stay powered long enough to even leave the house for a weekend. For a device that’s supposed to offer peace of mind, it’s delivered nothing but stress and regret. I expected better from a brand like Yale. Until they fix this issue, I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Very Difficult to align
If you struggle to get this align the lock will not work. Also the wrong app is indicated in the manual and it took time to figure out the app for countries outside of US. In the end I wasted my money as I Couldn’t use the lock on my storm proof door. The lock is sturdy.
