Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica (Fiona Dourif) is wrongly convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new group therapy tool—a "Good Guy" doll—a string of grisly deaths plague the asylum and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn't crazy after all. Andy (Alex Vincent), Chucky's now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child's Play, races to Nica's aid. But to save her he'll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar®-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky's long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll. Now on the other hand it is very cool to see someone keep this series alive and well ...
OK. I have seen and heard all of the negative reviews and quite honestly I half agree with them and half disagree with them. So I do agree that the series is dragging on and at times grasping for straws to keep it alive. Now on the other hand it is very cool to see someone keep this series alive and well I mean lets face it next to Michael Meyers, I mean C-MON people its CHUCKY. I almost forgot for the haters, yes the movie did have a plot and tie in to the series that made sense, those comments are total BS. The movie leaves off and is a sequel to CHILD'S PLAY 6 curse of CHUCKY. Andy barkley has CHUCKY locked up in a secret vault, the original that is and what is left of him anyways. He toys with him to torture CHUCKY as CHUCKY tortured Andy. Mean while the main character from curse of CHUCKY is sent to a mental institution when the therapist introduces a good guy doll for therapy, soon after that strange things start to happen and the murders start all over again, but how CHUCKY is locked up at ANDY's which is confusing until it is revealed that the curse works on any good guy doll and Charles lee Ray can transfer his soul into multiple good guy dolls which explains how CHUCKY has 9 lives and always comes back. So Andy comes to the hospital to save the day but gets locked up in the institution when we learn CHUCKY can transfer his soul into humans as well. Now CHUCKY is on the loose again with his bride tiffany as a human. The movie leaves you with the major cliffhanger makes you want to see the next sequel. Now the series has to end, CHUCKY got power to transfer his soul to another human and with ANDY back in the picture will Charles LEE Ray somehow find his remains and get out of the Doll or curse if you may or will ANDY DESTROY CHUCKY FOREVER. TO BE CONTINUED.

Another entertaining installment to this killer doll franchise! In style it’s somewhere between Seed of Chucky and Curse of Chu
From the 1988 classic to the guilty pleasure sequels, I continue to enjoy this evil doll franchise! [I viewed the Unrated Version.] This 7th Child’s Play installment continues Curse of Chucky’s story and offers a brief recap—but ideally one would see Curse before moving on to this. Andy (Alex Vincent; Child’s Play 1-2, Curse of Chucky) continues to live a tortured life. With now scores of victims in the wake of his childhood killer that has gone uncaught for over 30 years, Andy’s social life has been reduced to spending weekends chatting up and torturing the severed head of an undying Good Guy Doll that taunts him to no end. Even with proof that Chucky (Brad Dourif; The Hazing, Dune, Curse of Chucky) is a “living” possessed doll, no one believes him, passing it off as a clever stunt. Meanwhile, after being diagnosed a schizophrenic and electro-shocked in a mental institution for four years, Nica (Fiona Dourif; True Blood, Curse of Chucky, The Master) has been tutored by psychiatrists that Chucky was just a fantasy masking her mass murder of her family. But her grasp on reality is taunted as Good Guy Dolls seem to improbably find their way into her psychiatric facility: appearing her group therapy sessions, mailed packages and even from a gift from a strange visitor (Jennifer Tilly; Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky). Unlike Curse, which demonstrated a tactful restraint before revealing Chucky, this movie dives right into the deep end using Curse as the diving board. Because of the story continuity with Andy and Nica’s recent experiences, the mystique of the possessed doll gets skipped entirely. Brad Dourif continues to please fans voicing Chucky (as he has for the entire franchise), and Fiona nails some good scenes (those that were written well, anyway). Their performances along the loving direction of Don Mancini (Curse of Chucky, Seed of Chucky)—who took part in writing all of the Child's Play franchise installments and several related short films—make this another entertaining contribution to the series after the campy Bride of Chucky (1998) and Seed of Chucky (2004). After the outlandishly farcical events and pacing of the 4th and 5th movies, Curse dialed things back only for Cult to return us to insanity! Whereas Curse boasted a serious poker face (with a reasonable story) and a return to the old-fashioned malevolence that could make homicidal dolls menacing again, Cult is reintroducing us to Chucky’s sadistic sense of humor and the franchise’s historical tendency for lunacy. Maybe this movie is going too far off the deep end again much like Bride and Seed. The third act is incredibly zany and the dialogue takes a very campy shift. Many of the lines and death scenes were over the top, but I enjoyed them anyway. My favorites were the broken glass death and the two (yes, two) extremely gory head-stomping scenes. When things start to feel a bit silly, the gore keeps our interest. And as with Curse, the production quality was solid, including some decent cinematography. As for the Chucky effects, I really enjoyed the range of facial expressions (as with Curse). Cult ties in perfectly to Curse and then leaves the potential for an infinite supply of sequels. Although, I’m not so sure as to how many we’ll get. Whether Mancini continues to back them or we get a big budget reboot/remake for theatrical release, I’ll be on board!

GOOD SEQUEL AND WORTH SEEING!
I LOVED THIS SEQUEL! It brought back Alex Vincent the actor who played Andy in the first two Child's Play films. Though he is in at the additional scene of Curse of Chucky after the credits. This film takes place four years after that film and he has a bigger part. There is an additional scene at the end of this film and a character from Child's Play 2 appears! Hardcore fans will know who I am talking about! Over all it's not the best Chcuky film or the worst in the series. Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky are huge improvements of Seed of Chucky. The director already has the eighth sequel planned and from how this one ended, it's going very interesting to see what happens in the next installment!! Great buy!

What's the problem? Maybe not for everyone, but...
I don't understand how polarized this movie's collective viewer reaction has been. From my standpoint, (the standpoint of a long-time Chucky franchise fan), writer/director Don Mancini has triumphed in his continued attempt the refresh this saga. While I certainly agree that if this is your FIRST exposure to a Chucky movie you are bound to have a multitude of questions, who ever said that the seventh installment in a horror franchise had to fully inform every "Johnny-come-lately" as to the course of action? This movie should motivate those who aren't familiar with Chucky to go back and watch every installment, THEN they can understand and be involved. Don Mancini's first directorial attempt with "Seed of Chucky" was and remains equally polarizing. But even tracing the growth of his skill as a director from "Seed" to "Curse" to "Cult" lent an added kick for me. Technically, the color palette contrasts stark, neutral backgrounds with vivid hues on Chucky, Tiffany, and the blood that's spilled throughout, which creates a highly stylized look unlike any other Chucky movie. And I can only hope this movie generates enough profit and demand for the next chapter which, I predict, would also play out as another welcome departure from the otherwise cookie-cutteresque genre of the horror sequel.

I just have to watch them all and I can watch them all over again (except for Seed) and still enjoy them. Cult of Chucky managed to do something ...
I have been a Chucky fan since I was a kid. I just have to watch them all and I can watch them all over again (except for Seed) and still enjoy them. Cult of Chucky managed to do something that a Chucky movie should not have been able to do, confuse me. I was actually wondering what was going on at times, in a good way. And the ending... I just need the next movie right now. If you are a Chucky fan this is a great movie and adds to the series in a good, and unexpecting, way. A movie about a doll named Chucky is how it all started, and after seven movies they are starting to go in another direction. The first three Chucky movies were horror movies. The next two were comedy movies. Curse of Chucky went back to horror. This one is horror with some comedy for those of us who like both, although it is mostly creepy, scary, and psychological.

Chucky-mania forever...
As a fan who has seen all the Chucky movies and loved each and every one with the exception of "Seed" this is another good not great. but good Chucky movie. First off when you think of straight to video you think of poor acting, and really bad cheesy quality and this was not the case in either one. This movie looked good from beginning to end, had great sets and locations and the acting was top notch. When I first saw the title I had not idea what the cult in Cult of Chucky meant but I was pleasantly surprised. This movie continues from the last one with Chucky trying to escape and Andy still watching over him with weapons in hand, but this time the Chuckster has a surprise or two for old Andy. With some great kills and a few scares thrown in (and yes I did jump two times) this move is right up there. I like how they talked about the past few movies kill wise, and I loved how they brought back Jennifer Tilly back as Tiffany and gave movie fans a nod and a wink to one of her big movies "Bound" in the first ending. The second ending right after the credits was a really nice way to end the movie as it was nice to bring back an old foe of Chucky and a pleasant surprise to the fans that have watched all these movies. I will admit in a way I wouldn't mind seeing the mom come back and give Chucky hell as last we heard she went into an asylum herself after the first movie. Hmm would have made a nice cameo. Anyway this was another winner... I cannot figure out how they would bring Chucky back tho... but I am dying to find out.
