I don't normally write reviews, but felt it prudent because the title and description are misleading.This music box itself is very well made both inside and out. The saying on the front is nicely done, and overall, it's a weighty piece which looks like it will stand up over time. The hinge is solid, the lid closes and opens smoothly, and the fabric inside is secure and feels of good quality. All the ring holders are well placed, and don't feel cheap like with some inexpensive music/jewelry boxes.However, the product description says that most of their music boxes come with a Sankyo playing mechanism, like traditional music boxes with the tinny sound that you wind up with a key, which is what I was looking for. This lead me to believe that this is what I was getting.The product itself, comes with a digital music player, which is what the title indicates but isn't made clear anywhere in the description what exactly that is, and I actually overlooked it, so if you are like me, and unaware of such things, you wouldn't know you're getting basically a slightly better version of a musical greeting card.This wouldn't be so bad in itself, but the digital player has a horrible speaker, worse than really old PC case speakers. I can't express just how bad it sounds in words. Think of the worst ear bud headphones you've ever had, didn't play anything but the really high notes, and were also blown so everything has that harsh static after tone.This may not be too much of a problem, but it plays the song extremely loud. The sound is shrill and uncomfortable to the ears because of the quality of the speaker. It's not something sweet and nice to just open up and listen to like with a traditional music box, which have almost a soft feel to the notes, and can be relaxing.The song itself is OK, but I wouldn't want to listen to it for very long. I couldn't even keep it on for more than a few lines of the song because it hurt my ears. It might be better for the 8 year old cousin I brought it for, but for an adult, I wouldn't recommend it at all. The music player itself can be replaced with other songs, which is nice, but I can't imagine they'll sound any better, and they run about $15 a piece.It can be turned off with a switch, but that defeats the purpose of a music box, and would make it into a small jewelry box.On a side note, since it may not also be apparent if you don't read every part of the listing, the music player requires 2 AAA batteries, which I had to go buy just to hear how it sounded and make sure it worked.I would have given this a 1 star for the music player alone, but the quality of the actual box is quite good.

I want to give it five stars, but the music box does not work properly. The quality of the box is superb, it's absolutely beautiful. The durability is top notch, it's just the right size, and being able to add your own picture makes it that much more special of a gift, but don't get me wrong the included picture is perfect as well. My daughter in law loves it, and that's all that matters.I just wish that the music box worked. It only works if you have the switch in the exact perfect spot. It will not play half the time when opened. Plus to top it all off I ordered it on December 12th and didn't receive it until December 27th, two days after Christmas, that really was frustrating. The only plus is that our daughter in law wasn't able to make it for the family Christmas get together. So I guess it worked out okay since we are taking the gifts to her tomorrow, the 28th.Sorry for the long reveiw, I'm just frustrated with the music box, other than that I absolutely love this product!!

This box was lovely to look at but the music is entirely too loud. Unfortunately the item was not returnable, but Amazon worked with me to provide a refund as the music box was not remotely close to what I had expected. Thumbs up for Amazon! Thumbs down for this item.
