You have to know what you are buying.
I have a lot of fun with these little devices, but someone who confused this with buying a portable shortwave radio seemed needlessly perturbed and said very unkind things about the product and its maker. I see these as components, and with the addition of some tinkering and improvement you can get interesting results. No need for vitriol towards Nooelec and their toys, when instead you can use solder and skill. ; ) It is really just a fun rainy day project. Some people should buy a Sangean or CC Crane radio instead (I use both categories depending on my goals).

Absolute garbage: How it is still being sold is a mystery
Nooelec has been pandering this garbage for years. How much money they have embezzled is anyone's guess but it is a mystery why Amazon continues to offer it. You might pick up a shortwave radio station, as in one, but you would be far better off using the online receivers than these hardware gimmicks. It's junk. It has never been anything more than junk. There is no customer service and Nooelec refuses to respond to customer observations directly. Do not buy. Period.
