Adjustable Driver Rider Touring Backrest for VL1500 VL800 C50 C90 Suzuki Boulevard (Black-Studded)

First thing I'll say is zero instructions is mildly annoying. Not impossible as it is fairly simple to install but some direction is nice.5 stars for product itself looks awesome super comfy3 stars for ease of install because of the lack of destructionsLongevity will remain to be seen hopefully it lasts.I will start out by saying im 5'10 and 230lbs and this works great for me on a 2009 C90T.On that note i will write out the steps i followed and maybe it will help someone.1 - do not remove the front bolts that hold the driver seat down. I did actually take them out as I thought it was needed but it allowed the back of the seat to move around a lot which meant i had 3 separate holes to line up so i could reinstall the bolts behind the seat that go through the back rest mount.2 - take a 6 mm allen key socket (ball end helps) and remove the bolt that holds down the back of the passenger seat.3 - slide the leather strap that goes over the passenger seat as far forward as you can.4 - lift the passenger seat at the rear up and wiggle it towards the sissy bar ( on the bottom of the passenger seat there is a plastic pocket that a metal tang loosely inserts into don't break it) once the seat has been moved rearward far enough the leather strap will slide off the front competely and the passenger seat should come free fairly easily.5 - using your 6mm Allen key socket remove the bolts that go through the mount behind the drivers seat. (This is where your fancy new back rest goes)6 - put the back rest in place on top of the bracket for the drivers seat, put the bracket for the passenger seat on top of the back rest mount and with your third arm reinstall the bolts and tighten.7 - once installed and tightened BEFORE REINSTALLING THE PASSENGER SEAT, hop on your bike and give it a test fit, if you feel you're too close to the tank like one previous reviewer resist the urge to push backwards on the back rest to make space. The bolts that hold your back rest on go through your rear fender which is only thin sheet metal it will move without a huge amount of force because your fender is bending.8 - if you feel like you're too far forward try adjusting the height of the back rest, mine is about 1/2 inch from the very top. If yours needs adjustment unzip the leather cover over the backrest post and loosen the two nuts on either side in the sliding channels. Loosen them only until the height can be moved. It is easier if there is resistance. Once the position is correct tighten the bolts, if you didn't have to adjust it tighten the bolts anyway mine were loose from the factory.9 - once you're happy with it get off your bike walk around have a beer and then sit on again and make sure you're happy because if you reinstall the back seat and then want to move it you'll be taking the rear seat off again.10 - reverse the steps to reinstall the rear seat. Make sure the metal tang goes into its home on the bottom of the rear seat, make sure the shoulder of the bolt gets seated through the over sized hole in the rear bracket of the passenger seat.Hope this helps someone.

Did not fit perfectly

This was a Christmas gift and the first nice day we tried to install and it doesn’t fit. Too late to return by 2 days …,

Is a tight fit

I own a 2008 Boulevard and I weigh 185 so I'm not a big guy. With that out of the way, on to the review. The overall quality of this backrest is excellent however, I feel the angles of the bracket need to be altered just a bit by the manufacturer so that the rear seat will install correctly without needing to push the backrest forward enough to where you feel like your boys are right up on the tank. In conclusion, this product looks nice but it just didn't fit my bike right and the overall comfort didn't quite work out for me. Can't say that I wasn't disappointed as I was looking forward to owning this backrest.
